Opinions on Azusa aluminum wheels/brakes/axles? by
RTW
Just for the record, I have a set of Azusa wheels and brakes on a clone of a
Kitfox, built as an ultralight (empty wt 254#). The wheels are OK, but the
brakes are not adequate, even at that low weight..

Titan T-51... by
wildcat
I saw the Titan T-51 down at SnF this year and I've been thinking
about it ever since. I like it a little more than the RV-8 at the
moment even though it's not as fast and costs more initially. What do
you folks think about the T-51? Does anyone know someone who is
building one? Do they have or...

Airworthiness certification of an experimental by
Ace Pilot
Where can I find a fairly detailed explanation of the airworthiness
certification of an experimental aircraft? Specifically, I'd like to
know if experimentals get certified in a class (land, sea, single
engine, multi-engine) or just in category. I'm sure I'll have
additional questions, which is why...

War Stories: Good degreaser? by
B2431
I've heard of them doing up to
150 octane (I don't know how that's chemically possible, but that's
what they say)
It's not based on the hydrocarbon octane anymore. Most automotive gas pumps
have the formula decal.

Chicago lawyers plane found in Toronto harbour by
Wooduuuward
I heard on the radio that a small plane from Chicago went missing in the fog
during a landing attempt at the Toronto City Centre Airport.
This morning I see in the newspaper that the plane and the pilot have been
located at the bottom of Lake Ontario. The plane was a Beechcraft that could
seat six...

Fairing question... by
Tina Marie
(I've got a certified airplane, so I hope you guys won't run me out
of here on a rail, but...)
I need to replace some of my fairings on my Tripacer. They're all simple,
mostly flat aluminum, some with one or two bends in them. I can form
them (I bought my SO a metal bender/shear/break for...

Missing OSH by
Morgans
Well, I just got the news today, that I will have to undergo back fusion
surgery, and will not be able to go to OSH this year. It breaks my heart,
but I am looking forward to some relief of my pain.
Drink one for me, gang!

Murphy Super Rebel: Where are they? by
Tim Hickey
For five or six years now I have been waiting to see a number of Super
Rebels on the flight line at OSH. But they never seem to show. Do any
of you guys have any first hand information about that bird? It has my
interest, but I want to wait and see how the real world evaluates it.
I have read...

Powered Parachute Plans by
MJC
A friend of mine has a power chute made by one of the most respected
companies around. Still, he's crashed it 3 times now.
If a well designed power chute is a handful, maybe you might want to
reconsider making your own from scratch.
Those things look innocent, but they _can_ bite you.

Anyone still flying gyrocopters? by
[email protected]
I flew helos in the Marines, and in the '60s put together a Benson kit.
It logged about 220 hours with zero problems, including a highly idiotic
trip from the CA coast to Catalina. In 1972, however, my wife-to-be
insisted it go before the wedding bells.
Are any of these still around?

welding rod by
Del Rawlins
A while back I posted that after trying E70S-6 filler rod for TIG
welding 4130 steel, that I preferred using S-2 although the S-6 worked
fine. I had more parts to weld tonight, and at Bruce Frank's suggestion,
I first sanded the copper coating off the rod and then wiped it with
acetone. It made a...

Ack! My ACK! by
MikeremlaP
Am wondering if there's a design flaw in the ACK E-01 ELT or just an anomaly?
Our unit went off by itself today because the battery in the remote panel mount
indicator died, triggering the ELT, and I'd like to know if anyone else has had
this happen?
If a dying battery in the remote ***always***...
