Looking for some avionics manuals... by
Al Marzo
Peter;
It looks like all of those manuals should be available from the
manufacturers. Unfortunately since they are for airplanes, the prices
may reflect such. I've seen some manuals on CD ROM being sold on
Ebay, but haven't looked into the content. Pirated, no doubt, but
they may help. You can...

Source for old air navigation charts? by
Bill Carson
I'm not a pilot, but am looking for any sources of old
air navigation charts for the USA. I am looking for
charts solely for Washington state that were published
from the 40's through the 60's.
Anyone know of a source, or at least where to start
looking?
Thanks,

Flight training recommendations for Dubai by

Hi all,
I'm planning a five week trip to Dubai in the next eight weeks. I
would appreciate any and all recommendations or cautions about flight
training options in Dubai.
I'm currently ten hours into a JAR PPL flying out of Rochester Airport
in the UK. Therefore I would like to capitalise on my...

Vapor Lock by
Dale
For you guys flying injected engines.
I'm flying a Cessna P206C with the Continental IO-520. It quite often
will quit on rollout after landing. I'm being told that it is probably
vapor lock causing an interruption in fuel flow. I'm not convinced.
The ambient temps are in the 60s to 70s. The...

GA Life near Manhattan by

I'll be moving to Manhattan from Los Angeles (does it get any more extreme?)
next month.
Any advice or relevant anecdotes out there to help me gather some leads
about continuing my flying hobby from there? I've been renting (in L.A.) -
usually from the FBO where I did my training.
I'm IFR rated...

Destruction due to turbulence when below Va - how? by
Roger Long
It's not complete protection, it just loads the odds a bit more in your
favor.
The aircraft is as likely to be broken by a panicked response by the pilot
or a botched attempt to recover from an unusual attitude and being at Va
will reduce that probability significantly.

KSFO ATIS: "FG IN GAP W" by
David Ziemba
During the summer months, during which the stratus sits off the
Northern California coast threatening to move inland, the KSFO ATIS
frequently contains a comment that reads "FG IN GAP W". Via empirical
observation, I'm assuming that this means that there's fog in the gap
between the hills due west...
