A Flying Joke by
Tina
Yes, it's a part 135 joke, not a part 91 one, sent to me by a Jewish
friend.
THE FLIGHT
It was mealtime during a flight on El-Al. "Would you like dinner?"
the flight attendant asked Moishe, seated in front.
''What are my choices?" Moishe asked

Stupid Pilot Tricks by
Larry Dighera
While I have little sympathy for the alleged reckless and dangerous
aircraft operation by the pilot in this case, I do wonder just how
safe it is for a the sheriff to force a landing on a sand bar in the
Sacramento River?
I also wonder by what authority the sheriff was authorized to order
the...

Gillespie Field, San Diego by
Glasair470
If anyone is familiar with the field, I would like to park the plane
(Glasair) wherever the transient county parking is located and get to
the Trolley Orange Line on the road outside the airport to catch a
ride downtown to the Convention Center. Is it walkable from the field
to the trolley station?

Helpful controller by
Ridge
I'm flying along VFR this morning happily tracking south on a radial towards
LDN.
Departure calls and tells me it's OK to begin my turn west to LDN.
That makes me wonder why he thinks LDN is to my west.
A quick check of my NAV frequency gives me the answer, I have it tuned to
CSN not LDN.

FWIW, Moller Again ? by
Al G[_2_]
GROUND-EFFECT VEHICLE PRODUCTION LAUNCHED
Moller International has completed tooling for its M200G volantor, a small,
"Jetson-like" two-passenger vehicle designed to take-off and land
vertically. The M200G is saucer-shaped, about the size of a small

Local Press Coverage of User Fee Debate by
Jay Honeck
Whaddya know? Our local newspaper has actually taken an interest in
our battle against user fees, and (mostly) gotten it right. See:

Although the quotes they used from me were severely abbreviated (and

Norway fjords flying by
[email protected]
Anyone ever flown in Norway? I love the idea of taking a short trip
(perhaps an afternoon or a couple of days) to fly over the fjords and
see some great views.
If anyone has any suggestions as to the best way to do this, I'd
appreciate it.
In general, I know this group is fairly USA-dominated. Is...

XM weather de-activation with Garmin 396/496 by
Paul kgyy
I have a PDA-based XM weather process that spontaneously de-activates
periodically (and of course I don't find out until I fire up the
receiver in the airplane).
Are any 396/496 users having this problem?
What about Flight Cheetah users?

Boaters are nuts by
Jay Honeck
We spent the Fourth of July with friends who keep a yacht on Lake
Michigan. It gets 1 mile per gallon, carries several hundred gallons
of fuel, and is worth almost $400K.
We were sitting at the dock, sipping a cold one, and my friend pointed
out that most of the boats never, EVER leave the dock. ...

They say collision avoidance gear and all those other gadgets are

Where do you find places to fly? by
Jay Honeck
Here we sit, with a scheduled afternoon off, an airplane full of gas
-- and no plans.
It's gonna be hotter than blazes, so we don't want to do our "Schmooze
the FBO and have a picnic in the grass" thing (that we do when we want
to spread the Good Word about our aviation-themed hotel to an...

Hey Jay,
Searching back in the forums a bit, I've seen you waxing ecstatic
about both the EKP-IV and the Lawrence 2000C, the lawrence 2000 more
recently, but I think I missed if and or why you switched?
My father and I are getting ready for our Trip to AK, and we've

Thoughts on FOI exercise by

In the Aviation Instructor's Handbook there's a section about the importance
of Psychomotor skills in flying. (Brain-body coordination and the ability
to learn or improve.) Basically, it says to write the word "Learning" 15
times using your non-writing hand. Theoretically, you will be...
