Silly controller by
Robert M. Gary
The other day I was doing a VFR practice approach into Tracy, CA when
the controller told me "reporting canceling IFR this freq, or on ground
via land line...". I told him "uh, ok canceling IFR, I didn't believe I
was IFR" (because I hadn't asked for or received an IFR clearance).
The controller...

$640.00 to fill the tanks... by
Jay Honeck
Tony Snow, "technical advisor" for our aviation video webpage (Tony is
retired RAF, and has forgotten more about aviation than I'll ever
know), confirmed for me today that it would cost $640+ for me to top
off Atlas -- our Cherokee Pathfinder -- in Great Britain.
Imagine! $640 to go fly! This...

Great fly-in destination (New York/New Jersey) by
City Dweller
Warning: adult content. Prudes and john ashcrofts of this group do not read
further.
My buddies and I cannot exactly be described as strip-club frequenters, but
we do enjoy an occasional trip to these, shall we say, places of female form
worship. One rather annoying problem to us purist...

Ping: Jay Honeck by
Bob Chilcoat
Say, Jay,
I was visiting my sister-in-law in CA last weekend and wanted to show a
friend of hers our listing in the RAP bio pages on your website. I couldn't
find a link anywhere to the pages. Are the pages still there? Where is a
link to them on the website?
Just curious. Those pages are...

Post-accident photos of RV/TBM Avenger Oshkosh taxi collision by
Jim Logajan
Some post-accident photos (no gore, thankfully) showing the RV and TBM
Avenger were posted on a forum on Doug Reeves' RV website:
http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=9638
Really gives some perspective on the visibility, or lack thereof, that both
pilots must have experienced.

Ethanol Powered Aircraft by

HYA FBO? by
Andrew Gideon
It looks like I'm going to be landing at HYA in the near future. Any
recommendation for an FBO? From AirNav, the choice appears between Air
Cape Cod and Griffen.
Any recommendations?
Also, what's the story behind that "call ops for escort" NOTAM?

Gas prices falling... by
Jay Honeck
In the last couple of weeks, gas around here (Iowa) has dropped 10%,
back down into the $2.70 per gallon range. (This is mogas, obviously
-- the only stuff I'll burn in my plane, if I have a choice.)
I actually paid $2.67 per gallon last night.
With all the problems related to the Alaska...

David Clark X11, any pireps? by
Jack Allison
Any pireps out there for the DC X11 headset? Anyone seeing prices below
$800? As much as I hate the idea of 1 AMU for a pair of Bose, $800 for
the X11, IMHO, isn't all that much of a difference...especially when you
consider the Bose 12 month payment option.
I tried a pair of Lightspeed...
