Cessna TR182 IFR configurations/power settings by
Greg
I am trying to determine the best IFR configurations/power settings for
my Cessna TR182. For example:
APPROACH LEVEL GEAR UP: MP 17 in, RPM 2300, IAS 100, VS 0, Mix Rich,
Carb Heat OFF, Flaps UP, Cowl flaps closed
seems to work but I would like to hear from other 182 pilots:
What approach level...

PING Margy Natalie by
Jay Beckman
Margy,
I have a late afternoon flight out of DCA on Sunday May 7, so I hope to make
it up to the Udvar Hazy Center for a couple of hours before I have to go
drop off the rental car and hop my flight back to Phoenix.
I see where there is a prohibition on tripods but how about a "monopod?"
I'd like...

C-182T G1000,KAP150 question by
Robert M. Gary
I've now had two run-away climbs with the KAP150 and wondering if
anyone else has seen this. In both situations I was established in the
climb with the 150 set to about 600 fpm with a higher altitude armed.
I'm not sure what I may have done that started the situation but it may
have been after I...

Quad City Airshow & Golden Wings Museum Pix & Video by
Jay Honeck
Last month Jim Burns and I flew our families up to Anoka-Blaine
Airport, near Minneapolis, to visit Montblack and to take in the sights
at the Golden Wings Museum. Montblack arranged for a private tour of
the museum -- which houses some fantastic aircraft from the "Golden
Age" of flight -- and we...

Flying into Dulles by
Arnold Sten
A pilot friend and I are thinking about flying my single into Dulles to
spend a day at the Udvar-Hazy Center. Anyone here know if small planes
can still taxi directly to that facility after landing? If so, are there
are any landing fees incurred? Does anyone have any unusual "tips" about
flying...

Headset Audio Interface recommendations by
Dan
All,
I am looking for a good audio interface to listen to XM radio in club
aircraft (they have basic intercoms, but no aux inputs). I've seen the
one sporty's is pushing for cell phones. Does anyone know how well
this thing works?
Will it drop the music when ATC calls? (that would be...

AOPA Petitions FAA to Ease Medical Restrictions by
Jimbob
AOPA is petitioning the FAA to fix the sport pilot "Catch 22" and to
allow recreational pilots to fly with a "driver's license medical."
"That would mean that even if you've lost your medical, you could
still fly something as large as a Cessna 172 if you're healthy enough
for a driver's license...

Warbird photos by
Wiz
Hey, all:
I was experimenting with the ability to blog directly from my Treo
smartphone thing, and posted a few warbird pictures I took with it a
couple of weeks ago. I thought I'd post this in case anyone wanted to
see them. Bear in mind that they were taken with the pretty basic
camera in my...

Simulator for Complex time by
Steven Barnes
I'm working on my Commercial certificate. I've got about 4.5 hours in a
PFCAATD simulating the Bonanza I'm going to use for the complex part of my
checkride. The rest of the time is in the Bonanza plus 1.5 in an Arrow.
Question: Does the 4.5 in the simulator count towards the 10 hours of
complex I...

Cessna developing new LSA by
Kingfish
Cessna is working on a LSA to be unveiled at Oshkosh this year. It
kinda sounds like a modern 152. If this enters production it would help
legitimize the LSA segment (not that it needed it). Between this plane
and the "Cirrus Killer" and a new jet sized below the Mustang, the
Cessna product...
