Anyone flown out of a Presidental TFR ? by
John Doe
Just got word that there is a Presidental TFR going active for the Norfolk,
VA area this Friday.
It's right during my planned takeoff time and the airport I'm flying out of
is inside the 30nm TFR (and non-towered).
The NOTAM reads much like the DC ADIZ as far as procedures for flying out of
the...

Best cell phone/plan for pilots by
marc
Year 2006 version
I am wondering what is the best plan for getting coverage at the many
rural locations we fly into? Right now I have a Verizon plan and a
CDM8900 phone. It has analog roaming, which seems to do pretty well.
Among the rural locations I have gotten service at are Greenville...

BDR clarification by
B A R R Y
Over the last few days, I've made some incorrect statements regarding
landing fees @ BDR. I stated my co-owner had been billed $6 for a T&G.
WRONG! I had the facts confused. G
He was billed $6 for a full-stop IFR arrival. He even bought fuel,
which was mhy he was surprised by the...

Harry Hudini first to fly in Australia? by
Flyingmonk
I'm watching a decumentary on Harry Hudini. They said that Harry
Hudini made the first successful airplane flight on the continent of
Australia in 1910. Is this for real? A magician/showman Hudini was the
first man to pilot an airplane in Oz?

What can cause a hot CHT? by
Ron Garret
This has now happened to me several times: one of my CHT temps will
bounce around between normal and off-the-scale hot, and sometimes will
cut out entirely. All other indications (EGTs, the other CHTS, oil
temp, airspeed etc.) are normal.
This has happened before and replacing the CHT probe fixed...

A WHAT Ran off the End of our Runway?? by
Marco Leon
So our ILS is out at Republic Airport for the foreseeable future. A
"single-engine Marine jet" was the culprit according to the early stories in
the paper. I drove by the airport to survey the damage and was quite
surprised to see a *Harrier* jet sitting there! Umm, can't these things...

NJ Abandoned airport? Can you ID? by
John
I was stuck in a holding pattern over southern New Jersey while PHL was
nearly shutdown due to weather. During the numerous circuits I noticed
what looks to be an abandoned airport north of Millville. I found it on
Google Earth but didn't see any reference to it on Paul Freeman's
excellent...

Continuous Closed Traffic Approved by
Greg Esres
One of our Class D controllers has taken issuing clearances such as
"Seneca 1234X, continuous closed traffic approved, cleared for the
option, no need to report base, I'll let you know of any arriving
traffic."
What he's basically authorizing is operating in the traffic pattern at
will without...

Aviation Colleges/Universities? by
brynn
I'm just about to finish up highschool and I've just started my flight
training for my PPL. I haven't really looked at colleges much, but I've
heard that there's some out there where you can get a 4 year degree
while getting flight hours/commercial license/ratings.
Does anyone know of any of these...

Alcohol in Fuel by
Grumman-581
I'm starting to notice a lot more pumps around these days with a
notice that they may contain up to 10% ethanol in the fuel mixture...
Of course, they kind of puts a crimp in my autogas STC for my plane,
but it got me to thinking if there might be a way to separate out the
alcohol from the fuel...

Smoking Gun! Flight 93 Rare News Footage From The Crash Site
This is it folks. After viewing the video you will undoubtedly know two
things:
1. There was no Flight 93 Plane at the crash site.
2. The official story of Flight 93 from the very beginning was/is a lie.

BFR yesterday; first instrument approaches! by
Michael Ware
My BFR was due in June, so I figured I'd get it out of the way a little
early so I wouldn't have to possibly ground myself. I scheduled for
Saturday, but the weather was looking marginal (I'm VFR only). Saturday
morning rolled around, TAF called for IMC. So I called my instructor to get
his...

Emergency landing theoretical by
gatt
Question for you guys:
I fly out of Troutdale, Oregon (KTTD) which is at the mouth of the Columbia
River Gorge. Because of sheer cliffs, tunnels, things like that, if I had
to make an emergency landing in a single engine aircraft, in some stretches
it would be treacherous or impossible to land...

Child seat by
Andrew Sarangan
We are considering a flight from the U.S. to Canada with our one-year
old. I am a bit confused by the FAR's regarding child seats. On the one
hand, it says that the child may be simply held by an adult, but then
it says if you use a child seat it must be approved for aircraft use.
Common sense...
