Shafted by the Transport Canada? by
[email protected]
This morning I received a letter from Transport Canada informing me I
am being fined $250 for not filing a flight plan. I had flown from
Minot, ND to Regina, Canada on July 30, 2005. I had meticulously
planned the flight using the AOPA webpage on the subject (got all the
radio station permits,...

Young Eagles/Compensation by
Kyle Boatright
The board for my EAA chapter has just adopted a policy where the chapter
reimburses chapter members up to $75 of their rental aircraft expenses for
giving Young Eagle rides.
Aside from the issue that I'm not particularly comforable with the idea of
where the chapter's hard earned money is going, I...

No XM Weather For Lowrance 2000c...yet by
Jay Honeck
Well, the word is back from Sun N Fun -- Lowrance still has no XM
weather for the 2000c, despite all the advance rumors.
According to one source (a member of the Cherokee Pilots Association),
the reps at the Lowrance booth said they will have it in "Maybe 2
months...maybe a year..."
An Oshkosh...

Big Iron pilot made young boys day! by
Chris Ehlbeck
Just a thanks to ALL pilots that make a young person's dreams come true.
2 years ago I took my 8 year old nephew for his first airplane ride for
his birthday. We even gave him a small logbook to document the occasion
and logged his flight as a passenger. While at the FBO a B-767 Captain
who was...

Any Idea What Was Going On? by
Bob Chilcoat
I was playing golf today in New Jersey (I know, but it was a bit too windy
for enjoyable flying today) when I noticed a 747 flying over at around 4,000
ft heading west along a corridor that is very commonly used for departures
from the NY class B airspace. A lot of planes were in that corridor...

Youth Headsets now too small by
john smith
Upon our return from our Spring Break trip to Florida two weeks ago, my
children informed me that the DC10-13.4Y headsets they have been using
for the last ten years are now too small.
I guess it is time to swap them with the regular 10-13.4's in the other
flight bag.

A hypothetical situation, and a doubt by
[email protected]
This won't happen, yet...
On takeoff, one of your engines sucks in a bird or simply fails, and
you're left with just one turbine. You declare emergency, etc. but in
returning for a landing, there occurs a situation during finals - you
somehow botch up the approach or some unexpected weather is...

Broken window in jet plane by
Eduardo K.
Hi. I need help with some data. Today, the plane carrying our
country's president had to get back to the aiport because a crack appeared
in a window. This made front page of evening newspapers and stirred up
a heated discussion in local newsgroups.
That said, one of the regulars says a pilot died...

Diversity and Aviation by
BushOKDemocratsSTUPID
Is it OK for the FAA or Airlines to pass over
white males for black females so the diversity numbers look better?
Just curious how airline and private pilots felt about safety
positions being filled by unsafe and/or unqualified (Other than White Male)
employees?

Flight teacher arrested in sting by

Here's one pilot who got something he didn't expect when he made a

was trying to explain aviation careers either.
"When Harold Spector, 67, landed his Cessna airplane at the George
Harlow Field airport in Marshfield on...

Gettysburg (W05) in danger? by

Yesterday seemed like such a nice day, with high pressure dominating
here, that I thought I'd take a flight up to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania,
walk around the battlefield, and reflect. I flew from my home base in
the good old ADIZ at Gaithersburg, Maryland to Gettysburg Travel
Center, W05. It's...

control locks were still locked when the aircraft took off ( Video-Footage ) by
Hansi
An excellent reminder that there really are good reasons to do a
thorough preflight and to make sure the controls are free. This
happened just north of Winnipeg, and the aircraft was the first version
with PT-6-67 Turboprops. The Canadian DOT concluded that the control
locks were still locked when...
