Airmen Registry Question by John Huthmaker
When is the airmen registry updated? Is it updated when they get around to updating a particular persons record, or is it done as a whole on a particular basis. The reason I ask is because I have been checking every day to see when they add on my PPL. However I noticed at the bottom of...

Can I fly it at night? by bstanton
I have a 1941 Chief with lights on it. There's one light on each wingtip and one on the top of the fin. There's no anticollision light/strobe or landing light. There are wires from the 3 position lights to the cockpit, where they end. The engine has no alternator or generator and never has had...

Fighter pilot test by Marc CYBW
This is pretty cool Here's a fun game to play. The object of the game is to move the red block around without getting hit by the blue blocks or touching the black walls. If you can go longer than 22 seconds you are phenomenal. I was told that the US Air Force uses this for fighter pilots. They...

CFI practical test - aircraft required by kontiki
I am sure this subject has been brought up before (why? because the answer is not immediately obvious in the FARs) but I'd appreciate some input from the knowledge base. I'm close to scheduling my CFI checkride (practical teat to be precise) and although I've always assumed it had to be performed...

what a difference! by Chris
A couple of weeks ago in Florida I passed the Commercial airplane knowledge test and scored 96. A couple of the questions I got wrong were on the weather services and particularly the name of the charts. Not being in the US means that whilst I know what's on the charts the names get a bit mixed up....

Pilot training in Atlanta by Sanferminista
I am looking to get my private pilot's license and was looking for schools in the Atlanta (Midtown) area. I was looking for a location that has a good safety record and is reasonably priced. Location is not a major issue. Is there a way to check safety records for flight schools and on different...

Feeling aircraft sensations by Ramapriya
Wanted to ask how easy or natural it gets for pilots to perceive aircraft positions and movements without actually looking at the respective indicators. I've been in the flight deck only once, and confess that I had very little physical sensation to give me an idea of the 0.7 Mach or whatever that...

So much for automation... by Capt.Doug
Ft. Lauderdale has fog about 2 days per year. Wouldn't you know it but on the way down to a foggy FLL, one of 500 zillion computers on the 'sophisticated' airplane crapped out. My helper pilot had no localizer or glideslope information on his screens. I had both needles and flight director bars....
