MDW Overrun - SWA by

Sadly there's one fatality, the first in SWA's history. I've driven past
that intersection many times, and it's partly exhilarating and partly
terrifying to have the jets take off so...

I'm thinking of doing my flight training in FLORIDA.
I'd like to make it to a commerical pilot's license (CPL) with

Any SPECIFIC flight training INSTITUTES you could recommend?

$100 dinner spot for wife's birthday? by
John Doe
Anyone care to recommend a spot near North Carolina that would be good to
fly the wife to dinner for her birthday?
Looking for something half way fancy that would be good to have a limo pick
us up at the airport and take us to a nice dinner place and then limo back
to the airport afterwards.
tks.

the rec.aviation newsgroups, and staring longingly out the window of
Southwest Airlines 737's whenever I go on business trips, I've finally
swallowed hard and taken the plunge - my first introductory flight...

SEL 'FIRM' landings by
Tony
'Fess up' time. We were having a hanger session a while ago, talking
about firm landings. My worst was going into an airport near Urbana IL
(not sure of the spelling, this was back in the early 80s so it made an
impression on me.)
There was a cross wind from the left, and for some reason I I...

Oshkosh Lodging by
Eric Bartsch
I'm looking for recommendations on lodging options for Wednesday the
26th to the Sunday the 30th of July for Oshkosh. This will be my 6th
Oshkosh so I'm very familiar with the show, but with family in the
region, we have always flown into Madison and commuted (by car
unfortunately) from there...

The Pattern is Full! by
Jay Honeck
After weeks and weeks of unrelenting bad weather, light winds and warm
temperatures have once again embraced the heartland.
Unicom -- eerily silent for so long -- is wall-to-wall with students
and $100 hamburger flights. Dang, but it's good to hear again!
Now, if only it holds till...

Other Chatrooms and Newsgroups by

Question for Everyone,
My instructor called me up and was asking me if I could help him get set up
on some newsgroups. He is a 2000+ hour CPL/CFI. He wants to subscribe to
some groups where he as an instructor can ask questions to other
instructors. Of course I will be putting him on this one...

Prop Indexing by
Mike Granby
Why are fixed-pitch props on PA-28s indexed to the 10-4 position from
the front?
a) To help hand propping?
b) To minimize vibration?
c) To improve performance?
My money is on (a) but others disagree.
