Insurance Questions by
Bob Chilcoat
Our 74 Archer is owned by a NJ Not-For-Profit Corporation that each of the
four partners owns a share in. Our insurance has the Corporation as the
named insured, and the four partners are named as the sole pilots, although
we do have an open pilot clause to cover flight by instructors,...

Trip to Dallas II by
Dan Luke
Not a big deal; IFR to DAL, VFR back to BFM, no sweat, but I want to
give another plug to Regal Aviation at Love Field.
Once again, they treated me like I had driven up in a Gulfstream instead
of a somewhat scroungy looking Cutlass RG. Rent car delivered right to
the airplane, free bottled water...

plane crashed on takeoff attempt after emergency landing by
Toks Desalu
http://www.wafb.com/Global/story.asp?S=4038264
I found this link in alt.binaries.multimedia.aviation. I thought you guys
should see this. After seeing this clip, I wonder why the pilot would begin
a takeoff rollout with all the vehicles on the side of road. The risk factor
would cut down...

Landing Judges wanted.... by
A Lieberman
Been out the past couple days with my nephew flying around and about. He
videod some of my VFR approaches and landings.
The file can be downloaded from the bottom of the following pages. Video
behaves better if you right click and save as to your local computer rather
then play over the...

Last year, before Christmas, someone posted a link to a crank-up
rechargeable flashlight. I was lucky enough to get one from the company
who's link was posted before supplies ran out. I later tried to order one
for one of my partners without any luck.
I just saw an ad for the same flashlight on...

AOPA propaganda by
Skylune
In bitching about recent news coverage about saftey at a local airport (the
media don't get it right, they aren't experts, they create hysteria....),
AOPA posted this gem on accident statistics:
"Now put this into perspective with car crashes, household accidents,
medical mishaps, and the...

Runway Numbering - Radio Procedure by
Daniel L. Lieberman
If one announces "Runway Two Zero" but the "Zero" is cutoff the listener
thinks "Runway Two". Announcing "Runway "Zero Two" prevents this
possibility.
Obviously this problem only occurs with a limited number of runway
alignments.
The "Runway Zero Two" for someone speaking at 120 words per minute...

ATC visit questions?? (Operation rain check) by
[email protected]
I was wondering if has anyone visited ATC facilities recently and had
to prove US citizenship. I have heard some people that visited Potomac
Approach were not asked for this, but Seattle Approach keeps blocking
non-citizens including permanent residents.
Thanks..

Fishing vest as a cockpit organizer by
Andrew Sarangan
Since the topic of cockpit organization always comes up, has anyone
tried using fishing vest? It has many pockets that appears to be a good
solution for a cockpit, but I don't what the drawbacks are. Here is a
brief writeup about fishing...

Engine failure by
Jase Vanover
I had a situation yesterday at the end of my local "just because" flight
(you know, one of those where you really have no place to go but the weather
is favourable and you just want to go flying).
Was flying a rental 172. Took off like a rocket (lightly loaded solo...
cold air about freezing),...

Is there anywhere to find the numbers of aircraft destroyed by
hurricanes during the last two seasons?
It would be interesting to see a list by make, model and year.

Warrior seating.....Latch? by
Dave
Some are gona think this is a dumb ? , but here goes..
Our Warrior (new to us) has a seat back "release" on the co-pilots
seat..
OK, -so does the seat back lock in the " forward position" and the
"release allows it to move back to the "upright" position?
Ours does... seems backward tho...

UFlyMike Bose QC adapter by

Anyone ever used this product, or know anyone that has?

It seems intriguing for half the price of the X, especially if the QC
employs the same noise cancelling circuitry as the Bose X (I couldn't
find any specs on the bose website, but a lunchtime trip to the Bose
store is in...

Thanks bunches for your help, all of you. I need to sit down and study
all this and then, who knows, I may be back for a question or two about
your answers. Also will check out those links Rob suggested. I did a
lot of the research with a pilot who is an actual crash survivor and,
even though he...
