Volcanic Ash Prog by
sid
Having never flown overseas, where can I find a prog/forcast/airmet
describing the location and hazard areas of the current ash cloud over
Iceland.
Any way to tell what airports are closed and which ones plan to be
closed ?
Thanks

Sure is easy to read this newsgroup! by

Over the last month I've "kill filed" or "blocked sender" in IE
express all the obvious non-pilot posters. Troll posters AND troll
feeders. Only about 10 people left! I know I've "killed" a few
posters that were knowledgeable and I admit, enjoyed reading their
post when it applied to...

Avoiding Volcanic Ash by
brian whatcott
Flying back from Amsterdam to DFW on friday with KLM, I saw that we
headed north for Denmark, then turning west, passed to the north of
Iceland. Then crossing the southern half of Greenland and into Canada,
we proceeded across the Hudson Bay, and passed West of ALL the Great
Lakes, and then on...

CALL TEH POLICE, I THREATENED MYSELF by

An examination of my posting history will reveal
than I argued and possibly threatened a poster
by the name of "Mark", .
WAIT A MINUTE, ISN'T THAT ME?
But there is plenty of evidence that I was in constant
conflict with someone having the same name and

air conditioning by

Man I wish we could cool down these small
plane cabins. Haven't researched it, and
maybe the high dollar late models are better,
but these summer days make it pretty
uncomfortable in a trainer.
It's gonna hit 90 today.

Near mishap today by
Mark
Did a simulated power out emergency today, and
killed the throttle near 4500 ft. Established my
best rate of glide (70mph) and as I found my most
viable field to land in, we were going over the
procedures for such an occasion. Eventually I
reached a grassy field that actually looked
decent,...

Of course he does. He has a reset button. We don't LOL
What's amazing is he thinks flight planning stops at the desktop

What is the most practical backup attitude gyro system that is truly redundant for general aviation single engine aircraft during IMC flight?

I think I visited this site many years ago. Havn't has NG's in years. If so,
I am some disappointed in the QUANTITY of interesting commentary on flying.
I am an 83 year old ex-pilot - lost my medical some 30 years ago, but my
interest in aviation has never slackened. I started flying in the AAF...

Men in black by
Darius
I have no clue who the 8 or 9 men in
black suits with radios were this morning
when I go to the airport. I did see their
rather LARGE jet parked out behind the
building. So I'm out sitting in the plane
when another LARGE jet came screaming
in, kicking up dust in front of me.
Some guy walked over...

Just for fun by
Mark
Just for fun you can go to 'Google Earth'
then click on 'Tools' and next you will see
Flight Simulator.
If you're a pilot you should have no trouble
with the SR-22 once you figure out the
controls. If you're really good, you can fly
the F-16 around 500kts then land it at
an interesting runway,...
