Suction mounts for Garmin 296 by
Ekim
Looking to get a suction mount for my 296. Is there a better one out
there, other than the RAM Mounts?
RAM has a couple to choose from. One is longer than the other.
The shorter one only seems to have a ball on one side - does that
hinder the ability to angle the display to exactly where you need...

Trip from MA to MN by
William Snow
I am planning a trip in a single (Arrow) from MA to MN July 10th. I am
looking for recommendations as to whether to go north of the lakes or south
along the shore of the lakes. The US portion has a lot more airports but is
longer than a route north of the lakes over Canada. Any recommendations?

AT 6 mishap in dallas.. by
Dave S
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/news/state/062405_APstate_vintageplane.html
What is interesting is I wonder if this plane had met compliance with
the recent emergency AD that effectively grounded ALL AT6's until a
fairly comprehensive removal, inspection and reinstallation of most if
not all of the...

Camp Scholler without a car? by
Andrew Sarangan
How practical is it to stay at Camp Scholler (Oshkosh) without a car? I
plan to fly into Appleton, and take a bus to OSH thus avoiding a rental
car. Suggestions appreciated.

Milky skies and crimson sunsets... by
Jay Honeck
Tonight, after spending the last couple of days camping at a nearby lake, we
had to clean the hotel courtesy van and run a few other errands that had
been blown off for too long. With temperatures hovering in the mid 90s, and
the wind really blowing all day, no thoughts of flying had entered...

cloud base forecasting question by
William_F
I'm not a pilot, but I've got a question pertaining to aviation
forecasts. I'm a mountain climber who has recently discovered
aviation forecasts that could be very useful in determining cloud base
heights. The idea being that alot of times I'll see a forecast that
calls for rain yet I find out on...

U.S. airlines must now reveal where aircraft were built by

I think you will find that the rule does NOT say "BUILT", it says
"ASSEMBLED". There's a _world_ of difference (pun intended). A plane

Widebody fire bombers by
[email protected]
I read a while back about Evergreen's 747 fire bomber. Saw some
impressive pictures of a test drop too. Recently I saw another pic on
airliners.net of a converted DC-10 also performing a test drop.
Considering the massive weight of the water involved, (the 74 carried
24,000 gals. @ 192,000lb) how...

Drunk idiot steals plane & lands at HPN by

Man, where are all these idiots coming from that steal planes and wreck

Where's the self-preservation instinct that says "Hey, wait a minute...

You're going, where? by
Jimmy B.
I need to go to Hackensack, NJ, of all places. It would be nice if I
could fly myself there. It looks like Teterboro is the closest airport,
but I don't want to have to get a second mortgage to pay the landing fees.
Searching AOPA and AirNav turned up no other results.
Can anyone tell me the...

A friend (non pilot) was coming back into Newark (commercial) the other
