1966 Owner's Manual by
scupper79
My understanding is:
before early 1970s, FAA hadn't standardized the manuals into a POH format
yet, so they were just Owner's manuals at the manufacturer's discretion.
Did the 1st page after the cover still have to have the serial # on it?
I fly an old 150F model here lately and it's Owner's...

Jay Honeck
Hey Highflyer,
I've re-read the invitation three times, and can't find the date anywhere in
the text.
I know it's in May, but which weekend?

Helicopter Buzzes Wal-Mart by
[email protected]
I was shopping at a Wal-Mart on December 17, 2004, when I noticed
outside a helicopter flying just over the tops of the parked vehicles
in front of the store. It was flying towards me, about 20 feet above
the ground and climbing. I got a photograph of it when it was about 50
to 70 feet in the air....

If there are any pilots here that have ever flown aerial surveys.... by
terrygeosearch
I need to speak with you. I posted yesterday about needing pilots in
South America, but I was mistaken. If you or any of your fellow pilots
have ever flown an aerial survey, I would like to speak to you about
who you know. I have an opportunity in the DC-area for a full-time
aerial photographer...

Class III vs. Class II medical by
G. Sylvester
I am going to take my medical on Tuesday. The price
for a Class II is the same for a Class III license. If I don't
renew my Class II within 6 month sor 12 months (?) it goes down
to a Class III. I don't plan on exercising the Class II but who knows,
maybe I'll get my Commerciial and CFI in the...

Cessna forced down by the Feds by
C J Campbell
Apparently an immigrant smuggling operation. AP is reporting a Cessna was
forced down Tuesday morning near San Antonio with four Chinese nationals on
board. The plane, N98873, is supposedly owned by Afzal Hameed and Alyce S.
Taylor.

EAA Oshkosh Posters? by
Jay Honeck
We are currently working on our 15th aviation theme suite, to be called the
"Oshkosh Suite". In 23 consecutive years of attendance, Mary and I have
collected a LOT of photos and memorabilia -- but we never collected the
annual posters that EAA puts out each year. These would make great...

uhhh, why? by
scupper79
ok, here's my scenario:
I am an independent flight instructor, been flying for a little over 4 years
now. Ya, still a student in my opinion; envy the lifetimers. Just got my
first Flight Review less than 30 days ago, was planning on getting my
Sea -addon, didn't manage to get that one...

WAC vs Sectional by
[email protected]
I currently subscribe to the Airchart IFR and sectional service. I was
looking at changing to the WAC and IFR service.
What exactly is the difference between the WAC and sectional charts?
Do the WACs show all the MOAs/restricted/etc areas? Are all the same
airports listed?
Thanks

Briefing Dilemma by
Kyle Boatright
There are days (like today) where the idea is just to fly the airplane. No
specific destination, but if something looks interesting on the ground, or
if I need a Diet Coke or feel the need to unload one, I may land at any of a
dozen nearby airfields... How do you explain this to a FSS briefer? ...

AOPA by
G. Sylvester
I've been an AOPA member since I got my license about a little over a
year ago. Is it just me or do you also get sick of their incessant
'internal' advertising. It seems like you can't read one of their
headlines on their website or mags without it being preceeded by
"AOPA helps win....." On top...

pre-IFR training/preparation? by
Jonathan Sorger
I will be starting IFR training soon and would like to minimize the pain /
maximize my learning potential.
Is there anything that recent (or not-so-recent) IFR students wish you
had done in preparation for training? (specific books to read, home
flight simulator)
A friend has invited me to tag...

practical best range application? by
xerj
I understand the theory vis a vis lowest L/D TAS and the power
available/power required chart, but let's say you're in flight in a normally
aspirated prop plane, your destination is blown up, your alternate is
unservicable for some reason or other and you need to stretch the fuel you
have the...

Thanks for the weather, Jay! by
George Patterson
Because Jay put his plane in the shop, he's been seeing great flying weather.
That's trickled down East by now.
Today was in the 40's and CAVU. I dug the Maule out of the snow last weekend, so
I knew that all I needed to do was to top off the tailwheel tire. After that was
accomplished, she...
