I am ashamed and embarrased to live in the same state the govenor of Chicago
does.
What he did to Meigs was irrisponsible, childish, immature, cowardly and
increadbly retarded! For those that do not know what im talkin about, the so
called "mayor" of Chicago, Richard M. Daley, destroyed Merril C....

Dave Buckles
It occurs to me that I've somehow managed to avoid actually posting the
details of my recent purchase. Some of you may have noticed (from some
of my other posts) that I just picked up a new toy. She's a 1993 Socata
TB9 Tampico (pictures are available on my company...

Diving and flying by
Chris
Flying a spamcan at 1000-2000ft after scuba-diving is identical to
diving in mountain lakes at these specific altitudes (well it's actually
saver because diving in mountain lakes gets you to altidude immediatley
after surfacing, in contrast to flying where some additional time is
needed to remove...

How old is this by
Chris Hoffmann
The worst airline disaster in Poland's history occurred today
when a two-seater Cessna crashed into a cemetery early this
afternoon. Rescue workers have so far uncovered 826 bodies and expect to
find more as the digging continues.

Who has an instrument rating? by
No Such User
Since IR's for private pilots seems to be a hot topic lately, I thought
I'd toss out this bit of trivia for all of you to gnaw on. I took a
copy of the FAA database and ran some (admittedly naive) queries. Below
you may peruse the results of a list of the number of US Private ASEL,
Private IR,...

Emergency Survival Kit by
Rosspilot
A while back, there was a thread regarding survival kits onboard our aircraft.
I found an item I just added to mine, and I recommend it highly.
It is a tiny, handcranked mini-generator designed to charge a cellphone. It
also
has an emergency light. It is VERY small . . . about 3 inches wide...

Power settings for 182RG by
Andrew Gideon
I've been going over the POH, remembering the various procedures and
settings. But something I've taken for granted in the 172s I've been
flying up until now is missing: power settings for the pattern.
You know: 1800 RPM and 10 on the flaps for midfield downwind, 1500 and 85
kts and descending...

Losing my Clearcoat by
Robert M. Gary
For some reason the Clearcoat on my Mooney is starting to bubble off
and peal away. I otherwise have a good paint job that I believe was
done around '95. Sadly, a hanger is not possible around here.
Is it worth it to strip the Clearcoat off and have it reapplied (can
that even be done)? Am I...

No METAR Data at AOPA and NWS? by
Scott Lowrey
After a few months off from flying, I went to some of my favorite
aviation weather sites only to find that I couldn't get any METARs.
Both AOPA and ADDS are returning "invalid identifiers" for well known
airports like IAD and MSP. I've tried other airports with and without
the leading K - no...
