Replacement DG & AI: Suggestions? by
Andrew Gideon
One of our club aircraft, as a result of water damage, needs a new AI and
DG. But rather than just replacing the units with the same type, we're
going to give careful consideration to the possibility of an upgrade.
Since this is prime flying time, I've been given an entire day to...

A milestone and a couple of firsts in the Arrow today by
Jack Allison
1) I received my complex endorsement. Whoo hoo, I can not go out solo
in *my* airplane. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to do so this week.
I'll probably go out and just focus on landings for a bit. It will be
my first time flying solo since last July. It's going to seem very
different with nobody...

Fun weekend buying an Arrow (long) by
Jack Allison
A few more details on my Arrow buying adventure this weekend. Sorry, no
pictures posted yet but I did send a couple to Jay H. for an appropriate
update (as in "Jay, could you do me a favor and replace the picture of
the rental C-172 with pictures of much nicer airplane").
Saturday: Flew...

First Annual Fun - Day 1 by
Jon Kraus
Day one of our first annual for our '79 Mooney 201. Looks like we are
needing a new exhaust system for $1600.00 rebuilt... I have been busy
pulling all the inspection panels... Mooney's are famous for having a
million screws to remove. I only undid a half a million :-)
More fun tomorrow... Any...

Garmin/AT no longer supporting WSI weather on MX20 moving map by
Peter R.
I have the WSI satellite weather receiver installed in a Bonanza. The
data from this receiver is displayed nicely on a Garmin/AT MX20 moving
map. Today I called WSI to ask them what new weather features we could
expect from their weather service.
The rep told me that lightening data will be...

PA 28 Trim Wheel Lubrication by
Mike Spera
The floor mounted trim wheel on my Cherokee has always been a little
stiff to move. Others I have flown are usually pretty smooth and free.
The jack screw on the tail is well greased and the pulleys along the way
are moving freely. It appears the drag is in the wheel mechanism itself.
What is the...

LoPresti Fury by
Dude
Is there any new news on the Fury at Sun n Fun or otherwise?
With the few times I put anyone in the backseat, I am thinking it might be a
good next plane for me.

Hi everyone.

c-170 op/ed? by
houstondan
in my ongoing process of falling in love with various aircraft which i
cannot afford (yet!) i come to the cessna 170.
looks like 35-40k$ for a fair example. i think i prefer the no
nosewheel configuration and i'm endorsed to drag so that's ok. i'm
curious about the 6 cylinder 145hp motor. seems...

Improve performance of Continental O-300-D?? by
[email protected]
Hi folks - I just purchased a 1964 172e with a newly overhauled
Continental O-300-D engine and was hoping to get some suggestions for
improving performance on it. Is this feasible with this engine? I knew
buying it that climb performance was quite a bit different than the
150HP Lycoming, but I...

DGs and Autopilots by
Andrew Gideon
How "particular" to an AP are DGs?
We're looking to replace a DG in an aircraft that has an Cessna
Navomatic 300A (I think it is called) autopilot. In the not too distant
future, we'll be upgrading the AP (probably to an STEC unit, likely to the
STEC 20 (we already have the STEC 30 Alt...

Oversized bolts by
Kjell Sivertsen
Over some time the bolt holes in the link between the horizontal stabilizer
and the trim mechanism have been elongated. To get rid of the play, I
consider installing an oversized bolt. The original bolt is an AN5-7. I am
confused about the designation on oversized bolts. Can anyone help ?
Thank...

Interior Replacement Project - Day 5 by
Mike Spera
Day 5 (Small Start)
As I said in the “Day 0” installment, I ordered all new front seat belts
and shoulder harness retractors from Chief along with the Airtex
interior. The belts arrived and I proceeded to put them in. Since they
are relatively easy to take out again, they did not have to be...
