New Cirrus SR22 Lead Time by
Lenny Sawyer
Does anyone know how long it takes to get a new Cirrus SR22? Is it
still 6 months or more for a delivery position?
Thanks...

Sales Tax and Delivery by
Rob Thomas
I'm curious if anyone has ever done this:
Purchase a used aircraft in California (my state of residency) and have it
delivered by the dealer to Oregon. There it will stay for 91 days and be
flown on occasion, then brought back down into California.
My real question here is "if I buy the aircraft...

Buying a plane versus renting by
RD
Just wondering if anyone has some experience on the above subject. I'm
looking at building up some time (500 hours or more) within the next couple
of years. My two options are to buy an older 172/Arrow etc or just to keep
renting which is very expensive.
If I can find a decent airplane, in the...

New Shiny! Toy by
Dave Buckles
It occurs to me that I've somehow managed to avoid actually posting the
details of my recent purchase. Some of you may have noticed (from some
of my other posts) that I just picked up a new toy. She's a 1993 Socata
TB9 Tampico (pictures are available on my company...

Ext antenna connection for handheld radio by
Ray Andraka
This is one for Jim Weir I guess...
I had one of the Icom antenna switchboxes in my airplane
until this week when I needed the panel space to let my
handheld use the external antenna. I never really cared for
that set-up, it appears it just uses a 1/8 inch phone jack
with the switch in it to...

Me Too! Me Too! by
Carl Orton
Well, I didn't want to infringe upon Dave Buckles' time in the spotlight,
but I got my first plane on Monday the 1st.
It's a '67 Skyhawk, 1570 hrs TTAF, 200 SMOH, with new (well, 2 yrs) Garmin
VFR stack. Pristine. Glossy original paint, and excellent original interior.
Ancillaries have been...

PC program for a/c operating? by
Nigel T Peart
We are operating 3 Cessnas at a skydiving club. I'm looking
for a suitable computer program to financially manage the
maintenance/running costs
in conjunction with time-sensitive components.etc etc
Any pointers would be most welcome.

Cowl mounts by
Javier Henderson
I need to replace the cowl mounts on my '73 182P. I see the choices
are Lord or Skybolt parts. The Skybolt parts are a lot more expensive.
Are they really that much MoreBetter?
Note that the fasteners themselves were replaced last year when I
painted the plane.

dang that Murphy by
Mike Z.
Just when I thought we had the Skyhawk ready to blast off next week for Florida.....we took a little ride Saturday and on the way
back she ran rough for milliseconds on two occasions. The 1st time was so fast, Donna didn't even notice. The second time she was
expecting it.
Any ideas?

McCaully wheels & brakes available by
Roger Long
We are upgrading the McCaully three piece main wheels and brakes on our 1977
172 N because of the unavailability of a brake cylinder that went bad. If
you are faced with the same $2300 upgrade because of a cracked wheel or bad
brake cylinder, we will shortly have the whole set, with one bad...

Normal EGT - Very Low CHT by
markjen
I was flying yesterday and noted on my GEM that on cyl #1, the EGT was
normal, but the CHT was very low. Most of the time the CHT was off the
scale low, so there was essentially no reading, but occasionally it would
come up enough to be at the bottom or one bar from the bottom of scale.
I can't...

As most of you know, the "Rogue's Gallery" is a picture website created
solely for the use of Rec.Aviation pilots. Here we can all post pictures of
our beautiful aircraft, so that the rest of us can drool all over them! :-)
Here are the February...

E-bay airplanes by

Musings..
How stupid would you have to be to buy an airplane sight-unseen at Ebay
motors? Just marginally stupid or something close to incredibly stupid?
I'm not going to do it.. but it is temping to throw a bid in there.
Russian roulette, yeah, but, heck, there's 6 cylinders in a revolver.

Losing my Clearcoat by
Robert M. Gary
For some reason the Clearcoat on my Mooney is starting to bubble off
and peal away. I otherwise have a good paint job that I believe was
done around '95. Sadly, a hanger is not possible around here.
Is it worth it to strip the Clearcoat off and have it reapplied (can
that even be done)? Am I...

Generators, redundancy, and old stories by
Michael
Many people have asked me why I have generators on my airplane rather
than converting to alternators. My airplane is a PA-30. The only
legal alternator conversion is the InterAv STC. This is a
non-redundant conversion - the alternators used require power to the
field and the regulators use...

Anyone wrapped their yokes in leather? by
Jay Honeck
We've got a bag full of leather scraps, left over from our new interior job
last fall. I would like to wrap our yokes with it, so that they match the
seats and throttle cover.
Anyone ever done this? I don't want to just wind the stuff around and have
it look like crap in a few months.
Should I...

Annual Cost of Ownership by
Tom Hyslip
I am considering purchasing a 2 or 4 seater. I can justify the cost of the
plane, by the off set rental fees, but I am not sure how much I need to
budget for other fees, insurance, tie down, gas, parts, maintenance, etc.
I am looking to spend around 25k on the plane, nothing fancy, just...
