Injector insert for IO-360 engine by
Robert M. Gary
I seem to have lost the insert for one of the injectors on my IO-360
engine. Can anyone recommend a source to buy these? I've heard from
some shops that I may need to buy an entire new injector but I thought
I'd ask around if anyone knows another source. What do people do with
the inserts when they...

XM weather activation question Garmin 3/496 by
Paul kgyy
I have one of the Awmap PDA-based systems that preceded Garmin's
396/496 series and have recurring trouble with the Wx download
de-activating if I don't fly for a month.
This time I can't re-activate at all for some reason.
Have any of you 3/496 owners had a problem with involuntary
de-activation?

Garmin PCX5AVD software by
Jesse Zeck
Does anyone have copy of the Garmin PCX5AVD software.
I have a panel mount Garmin GPS 100 AVD in a Piper Arrow. The user memory battery in the unit is low and I need to replace it. In order to do this I need to down load the user data before I change the battery or I will lose the user data.
I...

Strobe Power Supply Mounting Plate by
Mike Spera
O.K. I give up. It appears that buying one of these critters new or used
is impossible (yes, I called EVERY boneyard on the planet). But, I don't
have one to copy and I don't have any good pictures. I would like to
duplicate the original and mount it in the "factory" location.
Anyone have any...

Tanis heaters by
cpw
I live in northern lower Michigan where we have real winters some years
(not this one yet). My partner and I own a 2000 Cessna 182. We are
currently debating the proper use of the Tanis engine heater. It has
been our practice in the past to plug the heater in after a flight and
leave it plugged...

Any Cessna 210 owners? by
Matt Whiting
Does anyone here own an older model C210 (strut-wing models)? I'm
looking at a 1966 and would like to learn more about the real world
costs of operation as compared to the 182 I owned previously. I know
the insurance is a lot higher ($3800 vs. $1200), and fuel burn is
higher, but what about...

Maintenance Training by
Marco Rispoli
Hello. I own a Piper Cherokee in NJ.
I am very happy with my mechanic, his rates, my plane and how (knock on
wood) reliable it is. Overall my maintenance costs are acceptable and
well within my budget.
That being said, I want to learn how to maintain my plane and
eventually I want to work my way...

AvMap EKP-IV users? any XM coming down the pipe? by
Dico
Hello,
Just wondering if we have any AvMap EKP-IV users here that can give a
comparison to the Garmin x96 units. The lower price and the much
larger screen make it seem pretty attractive. Although I'd like to
have the XM weather capability. Any one know if this is somethiing
they're working on?...

Hartzell prop hub AD 2006-18-15...results and our options by
Jack Allison
I found out a few months back that we're affected by the recent Hartzell
prop hub AD...requires an eddy current inspection on the front half of
the hub within 50 hours TIS then every 100 thereafter *or* annual,
whichever comes first. So I made it to the prop shop this week and the
good news is...

Soot in fuel servo by
Robert M. Gary
The fuel shop just called regarding my sticking fuel servo. The unit
has 900 SNEW 10 years ago. The shop said they did a full overhaul on
the unit. The only oddity they found in the unit that may explain the
hanging is soot in the air side of the unit. Since air flows across the
unit I'm assuming...

Chelton vs. Garmin - what am I missing? by
Jim Carter
Lots of chatter about Garmin's, but no one talks about the Chelton
avionics. Looking at TAP recently it seems the prices are very close to
the same for similarly equipped panels. I understand that Garmin appears
to be cheaper to piece meal together and that the Chelton appears to be
an all or...

Altitude Call Out is COOL by
Jay Honeck
Okay, so I finally figured out how to turn the XM radio off without
killing all audio output from the 496. (It's not as easy as it should
be...)
This has enabled us to finally hear the little "Southwest Airlines"
chime, followed by bitchin' Betty purring "Altitude...500 feet..."
through our...

After an annual? by
Paul Tomblin
When you pick up your plane after an annual, is there any special things
you do? I'm picking up the club's Lance after its annual today, and
flying it back from Batavia NY to Rochester NY (about a 25 minute flight).
Do you do any special pre-flight or flight check? I was planning to climb
up over...

Aircraft rewiring by
Brinks
I'm thinking about redoing the panel in the '57 C182A. Since I'm not
going to be able to afford to put the latest and greatest radios in,
I'm going to have to stick with the tried-and-true equipment right now
(Kx-155, KI-209, KMA-24, KT-76, Northstar M3, PS501). Eventually I'd
like to get to a...
