Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the documentary based on
Richard Bach's book "Nothing By Chance"? It was produced by Hugh Downs
in 1974.
Thanks

misdrilled hole on on tubular aluminum spar question by
patrick mitchel
There's a discussion on a ul ng about a guy that built a strut braced light
plane and in a fit of overkill (apparently ) decided to add a (non plans)
jury strut. He drilled a hole (3/16") on the bottom of the tubular alum
spar. Then realized he may have made a mistake. Whats the outcome and is...

Rotax 582 rod big end failures by
Beaver Shaver
I'm curious if anyone has experienced or might have some insight as to
why the Rotax 582 (blue head) seems to be prone to bearing failures on
the connecting rod big end. I have examples of this occuring on three
engines, all of which have about 250 hours on them. These engines have
been...

Fournier RF47 in the US? by
Juan Jimenez
Does anyone know of any examples of the Fournier RF47 registered and flying
in the US? It's supposed to be a JAR VLA bird, 2 seater, 119kt vne, 620kg
gross. Looks interesting, but I have only found Fournier motorgliders on the
registry, all experimental exhibition?

Weight of a Continental C-85 by
DonMorrisey
Hi folks. I can't seem to nail down the weight of this engine and I'm
suspect of published weights. For example Lycoming publishes the
weight of an 0-235 as 218 pounds and when I had one weighed it was 241
w/no alternator. Can anyone help me on a C-85? If you have a weight
pls tell me what is...

Airfoils by
[email protected]
Fred Thirty-two gave me a call this past weekend. Could I help him
plot an airfoil?
Sure, I sez, and commence doing so. After a minute or so I realize
there is a pregnant pause bulging out of the telephone. "Hello?"
Ummm, Fred Thirty-two says. Also, ah, er, uh and eh. Finally he says,
could...

Thread chaser for oil screen housing? by
Scott
Looks like my threads are hosed up where the oil screen screws in on the
back case of my (Continental) A-65. Heard it mentioned on a Swift
bulletin board that there is such a thing as a thread chaser to (I
assume) re-work the threads a bit and/or to clean them out to prevent
damage to the...

Rolls-Royce O-200? by
[email protected]
pardon my ignorance...
Is a rolls-royce O-200 the same as a continental O-200?
I mean specifically same overhaul times, same parts, same maintence,
etc?
I'm interested in a homebuilt with one but don't want to get into some
orphan engine.
Thanks,
Ryan in Madison

builders' remorse? by
[email protected]
Hi:
I'm doing research for my latest magazine article and I was wondering
if you could help me. I'm collecting information for people who might
be trying to figure out which kit/plans/finished homebuilt to buy. I
suspect everyone who buys an airplane has a set of factors they're
looking for, but...

pvc tubing/sleeve source? by
Jim Burns
I'm looking for a source for about 50 ft of 5/8" dia. non-heat shrink Mil
spec 631 or 7444 pvc electrical tubing to run a couple of wire bundles.
I've found plenty of places that sell it by the roll, and aircraft spruce
has small diameter, but I haven't found a source for quantities less than...

Headset Repair componenents by
pittss1c
I have a few sets of headset with bad cables.
Replacing the cable is usually such a high percentage of the value, that
I tend to just buy a new cheap headset.
I have enough laying around, that I would like to just do my own cables.
and not worry about it in the future.
I think I can get the wire...

LSA specs by
[email protected]
Could someone clarify something for me concerning LSA's. The websites
that have the detailed LSA aircraft limitations listed say that the
plane must have a maximum stalling speed of 51 mph at the maximum gross
takeoff weight WITHOUT the use of high lift devices.
I plugged the numbers for a Sonex...
