static wicks by
keepitrunning
I read about a homebuilder making his own static wicks using carbon fiber
and heat shrink. He attached them to a screw. He threaded copper tubing,
epoxied it in with wiring that went to the engine mount. Then he just
screwed in the wicks.
Anyone have any thoughts on this, any other ideas?

Affordaplane E-plans by
David Parks
HELP!
A couple of months ago I went to a website called www.affordaple.com.
I looked the site over and liked parts of the aircraft so I sent the
owner Dave Edwards a personal check in the mail, a personal check for
$45.00 for printed plans.
Well 1 week went by and I shot him an email asking if he...

Homebuilt kits by
Cal Vanize
Thinking of building. Have been looking around and not found the kind
of selection I though was available. Found Zenith, Sonex and Vans. Of
the three, I'm looking a little harder at the two seaters from Vans
(RV-7 and -9) and Zenith (Zodiac XL). Obviously different performance
but costs don't...

"Must Have" Tools for Christmas
DRILL PRESS: A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal
bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings
your beer across the room, splattering it against that freshly painted
airplane part you were drying.

Low voltage warning level by
markp
Hi All,
I'm looking for recommendations for a low battery warning voltage level. I
was going to use 12.8V - is this liable to be triggered by noise/dips in the
bus voltage? My guess is when heaters or motors kick in there could be a
momentary drop due to high current that could trigger my low...

Oshkosh 2005 EAA DVD by
Stuart Fields
There was some postings about the EAA DVD on the 2005 Air Venture. The
postings have now apparently disappeared. Is there some censoring going on
here? If so what was the basis for the removal of the subject postings?

Curtis quick drain by
keepitrunning
Mine started leaking after 20 years of service, not a bad service life for
something that I can replace for less than $10 at aircraft Spruce, or $14
from Sacramento Sky ranch. But since it is brass and looks to be in great
shape, I would just like to replace it's rubber seal. I thought it was...

Merry Christmas to RAH Crowd by

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all you hangar bums. I haven't
been around much lately, too busy with work and trying to move. Hope
to be settled with the first of the year and get back in the swing of

TKM Pirep - two years later by
Eugene Wendland
Hi All
Two years ago I replaced my aging Narco Com 120 with a TKM MX-11R slide in
replacement radio and thought I'd give a performance update.
#1 Installation: This is a true slide in replacement. Remove old one and
install new one and you're good to go. Simple (for me). I've heard...

Red Bull Air Race on NBC TV Saturday by
Montblack
I checked NBC's website. This was a (national) 1 hour long show - 2 pm in
the Twin Cities (CST). Yup, it's over now.
"World of Adventure Sports"
Segments include the Red Bull Air Race, an aerobatic flying competition.
I watched it for a half an hour. Good effort by the network.

Attn: Jim Weir - 24v to 12v by
Jackal24
I have a car adapter that powers my pda and gps receiver. The adapter is
generic and has no information on it that says what the allowable input
voltages are. Is there an easy way to determine if it allows a 24/28v
input?
Also, is there an easy circuit to convert 24/28v to 12/14v for these...
