ideas for Kitplanes article? by
SSD KOF
Hi all-
I pitched some ideas for articles to Kitplanes Magazine. I've written for them before but it's been a few years. Editor Paul Dye graciously and promptly replied and advised the following:
"our focus is on “How To” - a reader should be able to finish an article and actually DO...

Can You Name an "Aircraft-Accessible" Aviation Museum? by
Jay Honeck
In another post about the fabulous new Udvar-Hazy Center (part of the
National Air & Space Museum), frustration with not being able to fly into
this terrific new facility was evident. I personally find it appallingly
ironic that museums which purport to glorify flight are not accessible...

Flyability of Biplane Flying Boat by
durabol[_2_]
I have been working on a biplane flying boat (similar to some in the
early 1900s). Rough weight estimates a fuselage/tail/controls 200,
Rotax 503/5Gal fuel 150, wings 150, me 225 = 725 gross. The reason for
the biplane configuration is for the large wing area (250sq.ft) I feel
will be needed to...

Flying (Color) Blind by
David E. Powell
Met a very well-marked High School student today who wants to do flying as a career.
He has one problem, he is red-green color blind.
He believes that the services will not take him as a military pilot, but he would still love to fly.
Are there airlines or cargo carriers who will take a...

BMW engine aircraft suitable? by
Ralf Mueller
just read about the new BMW S 1000 RR bike. The complete engine assembly
is less than 60 KG. Engine puts out 193HP (112 Nm, 12,000rpm). Wouldn't
that one (slightly detuned) make a nice SLA powerplant ;-))

So is anybody doing anything worth talking about?
I did the detail design for an all wood elliptical wing that a friend

His airframe was started by Paul P some years back.
Paul did beautiful welding.
He's ready to have the fuel tank welded up now,...
