alternate engine in Falco by
Jonny[_2_]
There are many aircraft that allow for a variety of engines. Some
engine makers even supply cowling/nose bowl kits for popular types
(Rans, Vans) etc.
So, what do you think of using a Jabiru 5100 (8 cyl) in a Falco in
place of the Lycoming io-360?
Jabiru is narrower and less tall, but is a few...

Wooden laminations by
SkyDaddy
About five years ago I cut and planed Douglas Fir planks for the
landing gear of my Fly Baby, but we moved before I got them glued up.
I'm finally getting back into the swing of things. Should I re-plane
them to get a fresh-cut surface before I glue them?

Everyone It seems is into this by
[email protected]
This string caught my attention because recently it is pretty much
what everyone is talking about. The comments here are good and I found
myself reading through a lot longer than I expected to because I guess
I've personally felt the effects of this fuel crunch myself but
luckily I found something...

How Beat The High Cost Of Fuel: The ElectraFlyer-C by
Larry Dighera
How Beat The High Cost Of Fuel
Randall Fishman, president of Electric Aircraft Corp., flew his

day. The EAA folks really loved the idea." The ElectraFlyer won...

corrosion-proofing 4130 fittings by
SkyDaddy
Having perused the preserved wisdom of this board going back to 1997,
what's the best way to keep Mr. Rust from doing the nom-nom-nom on my
carefully-crafted 4130 fittings?
Thanks to my friendly neighborhood college-chem-lab person I can dip
them in phosphoric acid (with all appropriate safety...

Long-time poster Michael (thisoldairplane.com) died yesterday, June 24

apparently ran a stop sign. The other driver was killed too. Local
media is thin on the details.
Micheal's funeral will be in New Jersey on Sunday at Wien...

Heino Weisberg
I have recently ended up with one of these in my possesion. The wings have
been removed and it was in storage. I don't understand how the elevator
connects to the elevator tube, which in turn connects to the control column.
There are no connection points on the elevator.
Does anyone have any...

Aeroelectric site and the usual search places with no luck turning up
the data I...

A.N.N interview by
Stuart & Kathryn Fields
We recently met and were interviewed by Paul Plack of the A.N.N at a
helicopter meet near Provo Utah. I think that Paul enjoyed the meet and was
involved as both a journalist and someone enjoying the affair. There were
two Helicycles and several Hughes 500 class helicopters as well as an R-22...

ethanol question by
Dick[_1_]
Recently my gas station placed stickers on the pumps warning it could
contain up to 10% ethanol.
My ride is an experimental built in 1997 with a C-85 always run on mogas.
Quick research indicates 3 concerns:
1-loosens debris inside the fuel system affecting filters.
2-mixes more readily with...
