200km/hr 100km triangle by Tony[_5_]
I found this article by Tijl Schmelzer very interesting, about the planning and execution of his recent 100km triangle African speed record that was just over 200 km/hr. Impressive! http://www.scribd.com/doc/252510679/Solving-the-Speed-Run-How-We-Broke-the-200kph-Barrier

What is the L/D penalty of outside mounted GoPros? by [email protected]
I am thinking about trying to do some soaring videos. Inside the cockpit footage only is boring and I want to be more like Balleka with amazing outside camera shots. :) The reason why I haven't done much is concern over the performance penalty of outside cams while trying to do longer XC flights. ...

FAI GP South Africa 2015 by Tim[_11_]
I would definitely fly a USA/North American GP - so long as I could find a competitive glider to borrow/rent. Yes, my means keep me stuck in Club Class :-( , but my ambitions are high :-) You know, there is mostly NOTHING but $$$'s stopping interested US pilots from going overseas and competing...

CNvXC to K6BT Cable by Dan Marotta
Can anybody suggest where I could find a cable to connect my K6BT to my new CNvXC vario? The cable that went with my 302 had a DB9 male connector on one end and an 8-pin RJ connector on the other. My K6BT requires an 8-pin RJ connector and the CNvXC has a 6-pin RJ female. I'm digging through...

2015 Aviation Summer Camp? by V1[_4_]
A member of our soaring club (Soaring Club of Houston) asked the question below. Her son William is a 9th grader and soloed at our club in 2014. Very sharp and motivated kid. Appreciate any leads or suggestions, recognizing that this is slightly off-topic as it's not limited to soaring. - Frank,...

Has anyone had their Core/brick logger calibrated? Are there specific folks offering this service in the U.S.? Mine didn't come with an original calibration certificate, but this season will be 2 years in the ship. Thanks in advance.

Caution on renting a car in Germany by [email protected]
North Americans! or anyone renting a car in Germany, business is done differently there. I just had the most terrible experience at Munich Airport. I took my wife back to Germany for the first time since she emigrated in 1954. I treated us to a 16 day Dollar Rent A Car reservation for "an Audi A4...

O-ring material for DOT-3 fluid by Larry Suter
Just got a new Cleveland caliper assembly for one of our club's G-103's. Grob requires the use of DOT-3 fluid because of the master cylinder. The o-ring in the piston is designed for 5056 fluid. I'm told DOT-3 will call that o-ring to swell. So we need to replace the o-ring. Does anyone know what...

F8's flarm antennas? by [email protected]
The centerfold picture of JS1 F8 in March '14 Soaring is certainly an outstanding picture. Great job Antonio Gemma More'! Never seen a flarm antennae that large...it looks like a miniature Washington monument. A better mouse trap? What's the 411? Wonder if anyone has had success mounting a flarm...
