Radio sidetone problem by
Marty from Florida
Hey again.
I have a new TKM Nav/Com (Michel MX385) in a 1982 C152. The radio is great,
clean, lots of volume. The sidetone, however, is very faint, almost a
whisper, and it's making me nuts. On a rare occasion, while I'm
transmitting, the whisper blasts out for a brief second, and returns...

Pitot heat element failed. Options? by
Peter R.
Just this past week my Bonanza V35's pitot heat element failed. I had a
mechanic look at it to determine if the cause was power/wiring related or
if the element itself had failed.
Of course, it was the element itself that had failed, which apparently in
the Bonanza's case means a new pitot...

Flight Plan Overdue. by
Brian Whatcott
My wife took a call coupla days ago. From a Florida Air Force Base.
She asked me to call them.
"Your plane is overdue". I confirmed the number, but told them I
believed it was still in its open tee hangar. I called back when the
line chief checked. I offered his opinion - "probably somebody...

Piper Aztec F Model Dual Hydraulics(1976-1981) STC by
Keith
I am interested in obtaining information about what is involved in
placing a hydraulic pump on the right engine in a Piper Aztec F
airplane that just has a single hydraulic pump on the left engine.
Specifically, who makes the kit for this and what are the approximate
hours needed to install . I...

What size fuse for Cessna Clock? by
Mark Martindale
Does anyone know what size fuse is used in the clock circuit in a 172H.
This fuse is located in a holder by the battery box. POH only shows fuse
and no ampere rating. I would guess 1 or 2 amp??
Thanks,
Mark

Piper Seneca by
Frode Berg
hi all!
This might be a silly question, but I am dreaming of owning, or co-owning a
Piper Seneca.
Not this year or next, but maybe within the next 10 years.
I have been browsing the aircraft for sale sites, and found planes from the
70's (Seneca II) selling for as low as $139K with about half...

Annual Off to a Good Start by
Jay Honeck
Although I am starting to resent the whole annual inspection process.
More on that in a minute.
All compressions on our O-540 are 78 or better out of 80, so that's
always a relief. The oil filter was clean (as always), and the exhaust
system is sound. Those are three big-ticket items off the list...

Prop Indexing by
Mike Granby
Why are fixed-pitch props on PA-28s indexed to the 10-4 position from
the front?
a) To help hand propping?
b) To minimize vibration?
c) To improve performance?
My money is on (a) but others disagree.

Cherokee 140 Oil Temp Sender by
Mike Spera[_2_]
Still trying to track down a high oil temp reading. I would like to get a
new temp sender to swap out. Too lazy to rig up the hot plate, thermometer,
etc. to test the old one. Part has a number of 362-EW. Same number is on a
friend's Arrow. Methinks most/all cherokees may use the same one....

Strange compass behavior by
me
Help, can someone help explain these compass symptoms? I know that the
compass should be about the most reliable piece of equipment in the plane,
but ours is acting strange.
We have a Precision PAI-700 vertical card compass mounted in a 1966 Cessna
182. We’ve swung the compass on the ground with...

How I got to Oshkosh (long) by

Well, I did it again this year. I combined a trip to British Columbia
with my final destination being Oshkosh, this time in my Amphib
equipped Aviat Husky. I am not sure how many bytes I can post in one
message, so if it doesn't all make it, I'll post the rest later.

Genealogy of Piper Aircraft by

Our FBO has a poster on the wall entitled "A Genealogy of Piper
Aircraft" or something similar. It shows the various lines of aircraft
(PA-28, PA-32 etc) and the various models in that line. I've been
trying to find a copy without success. While a quick trip to the color
photocopies with the FBO's...

Importing Canadian aircraft into US by

I see this subject was discussed on the list back in '99, but I was

Canadian registered 206 and am importing it into the US. The aircraft
just had an annual, but the owner doesn't have insurance on it, so the
option of having him fly...

Cessna 172 flap skin repair by
Steve
During the annual of my 1963 Cessna 172D the A&P discovered a one inch long
crack originating from the rear rivet line on both one flap and elevator. He
says there is a Cessna approved repair procedure to replace a portion of the
skin and no need to replace the whole part. Can someone direct me to...
