New GPS from Honeywell/Bendix-King in the works by Jim Burns
Another post has raised my curiosity about the availabity of GPSS converters to provide pseudo roll steering inputs to our S-Tec 60-2 autopilot via our KLN 94 GPS and a converter. Long story short, at this time we're out of luck. The KLN 94 GPS outputs a RS232 signal that isn't tagged correctly...

Pilot headset comparison - Lightspeed Zulu vs. Bose X by Kevin Wessell
I have the Zulu and the Bose. I like my Bose but Zulu wins hands down. Whereas, both have good noise reduction, Zulu is noticeably better in blocking out the noise. The Zulu has the bluetooth that syncs with the cel phone. Bose doesn't. Very handy when making a call from the ground or low...

Does anyone use a PDA to record in a small spreadsheet the departure airport, your destination airport, and the Hobbs & Tach readings when you land? If so, what would be the brand and the main features of the PDA? Thanks

engine monitor wiring harness install by Jim Burns
How are your engine monitor probe leads and wiring harnesses secured? Adel clamps on the rocker box covers? Tie wrapped to your ignition leads? Tie wrapped to the intake tubes? Adel clamps to the lower case/sump bolts? I'm interested to hear about your installations. What you like and...

Wing Root Fairing by Bob Noel
First impressions of adding Knot2U wing root fairings on my Cherokee 140: Nothing clearly different in the handling/performance of the plane. Of course, I hadn't flown the airplane since Nov 05 (surgery) so insert jokes about not remembering much here.. -- Bob Noel Looking for a sig the

Need help with fuel guage please! by Dave
OK...a 1976 PA 28 151.. After a few minutes of running, the port guage will start to fall towards E. It is showing 3/4 now (fuel at tabs), and will sag to 1/4 within about 15 min, while I am operating on the starboard (other) tank. Shut down for a few hours, guage resumes normal (correct)...

Proposed AD ECi connecting rods by Jim Burns
I hate repeating things that everybody's probably already read on Avweb or AOPA, but here's the long and the short of a proposed AD published in the Federal Register about ECi connecting rods used in overhauled or repaired Lycoming 360 and 540 cubic inch engines. Full text...

Windshield replacement by Jim Burns
When we purchased our Aztec, one of the things that we promised to update/upgrade/replace was the two piece windshield with a new 1/4" one piece. This will raise our compass up and move our OAT gauge to the pilot's side window. Well, today it came and is sitting in my computer room. I've got the...

Aeronca 15AC Sedan by JAX
Amomg other planes, I've been considering the classic Aeronca 15AC Sedan, and was wondering what to look for or to avoid when doing a pre-buy. Also, general comments good and bad about the plane? There aren't many for sale to use as reference, I know NAAA and Vref list them in the mid to upper...

Wash, polish, wax? by Jim Burns
Spring is almost here (ok, I probably just jinxed it) and we're wanting to really clean up the Aztec before applying a good base coat of wax for the summer. We've got a little oxidation and some fuel streaking, but mostly just hanger dust, belly oil, runway grime, tire, brake, and exhaust dust to...

flying a wreck by 5pguy
I'm starting a club and soon our members will meet to discuss our top 10 planes. 1 of the planes being considered has been in an accident where the bird flipped over (C172). The repairs were preformed as needed and the plane has been flying for many years. Should a club consider this plane (even...

Piper Arrow IV fuel pressure by MC
Does your fuel-pressure gauge fluctuate noticibly ? Mine vibrates at about a 3Hz rate between the middle and bottom of the green-band. Engine runs fine... Turning-on the electic pump reduces the amplitude of the swing and stablizes it at around mid gauge. Is this 'normal' ??

The cost of war by Jay Honeck
Do you even know what the definition of Fascism is? Do you realize how oxymoronic using the phrase "Islamo-Fascist" makes you appear? Actually, that wonderfully descriptive term was coined (or, at least, repeated here) by this group's very own Don Tabor, DDS. I think is quite nicely sums up...

Owner replacement of Nav/Comm Radios by endre
I am reading the FARs and am having a hard time figure out whether I can slide out my old radios and have them upgraded and put them back in. Slide in and out only no wiring or changing the shelf itself. Or do I need A&P inspection?
