Cherokee fuel sending units by
Mike Spera
I have finally had enough of the bad sending unit on the right tank.
Since I want the beast in and out quickly, I figured I would get an
exchange unit from Airparts of Lock Haven. $500 core charge? Yikes! I
guess they REALLY want that core back!!! I believe the "stock" sending
units/gauges on a 74...

Cherokee fuel tank sender unit "float" -- anybody know where to get these??? by
Chuck
Hi everyone,
Well, ran into another small problem that is balooning into a major
outlay of cash!
Somehow, the little plastic float in the right hand tank snapped in
two. And no, there haven't been any crash/hard landings lately.
Don't know what the cause was.
Well, after digging the pieces out...

Cherokee getting fat by
[email protected]
We finally did it.... we had to weigh the airplane. After three years of
owning it, upgrading radios, adding whatzits (Tannis heater, vacuum filter, new
strobe, etc), we finally had a custom interior made up for it. Since the last
weighing was without an interior and the weight/moment would be...

Cherokee Heater Controls? by
Bob Chilcoat
Our 74 Archer has the standard two-lever horizontal quadrant for heater and
defroster control. The last time I flew it, the heater was stuck on.
Moving the lever had no effect. Our feet were actually hurting it was so
hot. The defroster valve seems to work fine.
Yesterday, I took the little...

Cherokee on floats by
Doug
If you go to http://www.ontarioseaplane.com and click on "photo
gallery" then click on "interesting floatplane pictures", there is a
Cherokee on floats. Probably one of only 2 or 3 in the world. (There
ya go Jay Honeck!)

Cherokee Pilots Association Fly-In This weekend by
Jay Honeck
Anyone else going this weekend? It's held annually at Tan-Tar-A
resort, in Osage Beach, MO, and has rapidly become our favorite fly-in
of the season. Last year they had around 200 Cherokees fly in, and it
was a really great time!
This year they've got Chuck Suma, president of New Piper, as...

Cherokee shoulder seat belt replacement by
texas slacker
My warrior is fitted with shoulder strap seat belts anchored to the
upper side of the plane, just above the second window. From the looks
of them they were original equipment. Now - I need to remove the
retracting mechanism so I can have new belts attached. After removal
of the plastic cover plate...

Cherokee Strobe Noise by
Jonathan Goodish
I know that this has been beaten to death, and I have searched the
archives, but I'm trying to narrow my specific case down a little bit.
I have a Cherokee with factory-installed wing tip strobes. I have an
original (1977) King Silver Crown avionics package, including audio
panel, KX170Bs, etc. ...

Cherokee Strobe Power Supply Mounting Plate by
Mike Spera
Still looking for this mounting plate. Called every boneyard in the US
and NOBODY has one. I would even consider buying a new one if one
existed. The part number does not show up as valid in any of the
databases. Part number 99031. I will make one if I have to, but I really
hate having to spend any...

Cherokee Strut Access Plugs by
Bob Chilcoat
We have been having trouble getting decent replacements for the above, which
pop into the holes in the top of the wing to allow the main gear struts to
be pressurized. Our mechanic uses 1 1/2" plastic (Polypropylene, I think)
hole plugs from McMaster Carr, but they don't seem to stay in our...

Cherokee Strut Lower Strut Seal Replacement Report by
Mike Spera
Well, did my first seal swap on the 140 on all 3 legs. Took me and the
wrench about 5 hours total. Completely slimy, dirty job. Remember, I
worked in my father's body shop as a younger man, so I am no stranger to
being filthy. This was worse. Being dirty WITH oil/grease involved is
way worse than...
