A question from a lurker by
Richard
I am not a pilot but have the greatest respect for those you are.
Most here wish to share their pleasure with non-pilots and I thank you for
your posts. But some wish to maintain an elitist group. Perhaps that elitist
behaviour reduces the support you may have from non-pilot members of the...

Daddy! What did you do?!!! by
Steve Schneider
One of the advantages of flying is that you can pack so much more into
your weekends. Last weekend was a typically busy one for us. We had
plenty to do around the house, I had to help a neighbor move, and we had
a dinner to help with at the Fallbrook Air Park (L18) for some 80 odd
people -- oh,...

Seaplane Rating Add-On and Seaplane Rental by
Peter Bauer
Hi Group,
i have a question concerning a seaplane rating add-on to a Private
Certificate ASEL.
I'm interested in the ASES-Add-On to my Certificate, but what if i'd
like to rent a seaplane after the Rating Add-On, is this possible
directly after doing it or do i've to get experience with a CFI...

We lost a good one.... by
[email protected]
On Tuesday, May 17 Robert Bosley was murdered by an intruder who broke
into his home. Bob was a good friend of mine. I was also his CFI. At
the exact time we were scheduled to fly together on Saturday, I will
instead be attending his funeral. He was a good man, a good father and
husband, a good...

Gas Theft Nashua (ASH) by
Hank Rausch
Flew into Nashua last Sunday for business, topped off the tanks right
after setting down. When I came back from business on Thursday, found
the right tank down quite a bit. I was going crazy looking for the
leak and checking the drain for seepage, until the line guy pointed out
that he filled the...

Corrupt FAA Administrator Nominee Advanced For Senate Vote by
Larry Dighera
FAA Administrator Nominee Dixon lied to the Senate committee charged
with confirming him and, had a whistleblower pilot reporting safety
issues at Delta fraudulently declared unfit for duty. Later the FAA

PIREP - Planes of Fame, Chino, California [long] by
Casey Wilson
Had some relatives in from Alaska last week. Al, a commercial fisherman
on Kodiak Island, shares ownership of a 150HP Super Cub on floats with one
of his sons. They use the airplane occasionally to spot fish when the boat
is working close enough to land to make it worth while.
In advance of the...

ID Theft -- Courtesy of the FAA by

I've just received a "past due" invoice for the purchase of 250
gallons of Jet A from an FBO a thousand miles away on 20 May. The
invoice includes my name and address and the N-number of my airplane.
The trouble is: I'm not a jet pilot; haven't been to that city in
thirty years; the airplane with...

FAR:Safety Pilot & High Performance/Complex? by
Jim
It is my understanding (always subject to correction) that as a safety pilot
you may log PIC time because you are indeed a required crew member for the
operation. However, to log PIC time you also must be qualified to act as
PIC of that particular aircraft.

New Plan -- Going to Kill Devil Hills by

Looking at the prog charts for the next several days, Texas looks like
a mess. Moderate to heavy rains, thunderstorms, yuck. Our plan to
head south on Sunday is scrubbed.
So, we're looking at heading to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina instead.
The progs look great for at least three or four days, and...

Simple question, when refuelling should brakes be on or off (for a

both. What should I do???

1942 DC-3 / C-47 on eBay by
Michael 182
For about 25% of the cost of a new Skylane or Cirrus you can have a 1942
C-47 that saw combat in WWII. Of course, the maintenance and fuel prices
might be a little steep - not to mention finding a hanger big enough to hold
the plane. Still, wouldn't it be cool to land at some out of the way...

foldable bike by

Hello,
I'm about to buy a bike and am interested in a "foldable" bike.
I do not own a plane, just use a rental ( Cessna 172 SP ).
Has anyone thought about getting one of these to fit on the backseat of
172 ?
The one I found here : http://www.digitalgiftstore.com/th-367-r.html
is about 45 pounds...
