I'm looking for the information about events which took place in 1980's.
Then during the studies on Stealth (F-117) airplanes US government
agencies spreaded disinformation. I'm interested particulary in PJ
AFOSI department and its director - Col. Hennessey. It is said that he
has been proved to...

New Book..."Boyd" by
Andy Bush
Just finished this book. Quite a story. Having served in the fighter side of
the USAF for most of the period that the book centers on, I was surprised at

Some of it required reading with a salt shaker though!!
Anyone else...

How indicative of maneaverability are the max G numbers of fighter
aircraft?
Also, most new aircraft have reported max of 9Gs. Why are they all

Now that the advanced trainer is flying, will there be a light strike

Arjen Jongeling

hi alt oxygen by
Arquebus257WeaMag
Im just wondering why pure oxygen is used for high altitude flying
instead of regular air. I thought prolonged exposures to breathing
pure oxygen can be harmfull as you can become oxygen dependant.

leading edge flaps by
Arquebus257WeaMag
This questions has been killing me, what is the name of the leading
edge flaps that you find on airliners for example. Ive heard the name
slats, but I know there is another name for it.

MARKET GARDEN ALL OVER AGAIN? WHAT THE HELL? by

MARKET GARDEN ALL OVER AGAIN? WHAT THE HELL?
The disastrous operation Market Garden was over. The losses were considerable
as was our sense of defeat in an operation that promised to shorten the war.
Well you can't win 'em all. Upward and onward. On the 6th of October 1944
weeks after Market...

It was now the 21st. The sky was heavly overcast with a lot of ground fog as
well and freezing temperatures. We all walked around looking at the sky for any

Aircrew casualities by
ArtKramr
The common wisdom in WW II was that tail gunners and bombardiers suffered the
highest casualties among bomber aircrews. Anyone have any actual statistics on
aircrew casualties by position in USAAC bombers?
