"W" in 1971 (or 1972) by
[email protected]
In late May or June of 1971 or 72, I was driving my car on a lark from
Farmer's Branch Texas down through Louisiana to New Orleans when I
picked up a hitch-hiker on the return leg. The young man, hitch-hiking
for the first time in his life, claimed he was a "jet fighter
pilot" and had graduated...

fleet air arm in the suez by
R4tm4ster

musketeer) there were a number of westland wyverns from 830 sq ditched
overboard as a result of a hangar fire on HMS EAGLE . I am trying to find out
more about this incident, and about Wyverns generally. Is there any one...

F-18 Video: roll couple departure down low by
Raymond Marshall
Does anyone have a copy of the hud video of an F-18 roll couple
departure at low altitude. I think I remember the pilot was
trying multiple rolls and ended up with a rather violent
departure that he recovered barely above the ground... any help
would be appreciated. Thanks.

A-6 Radar Display? by
Nick Coleman
Just started re-reading Coont's Flight of the Intruder, and his
description of the capabilities of the terrain radar is interesting.
Early in the book he describes a training flight through canyons and
valleys in IMC, using the radar for avoidance.
I'm curious what the BN would actually see in...

IVAN--Pensacola NMNA survived (unconfirmed report) by
old hoodoo
Being a relatively new building, and I think built with private funds
to the newer building codes, the National Museum of Naval Aviation has
initially been reported to have weathered the storm intact which is what
was expected (with crossed fingers I presume) from such a structure.
Only a one...

Paddles Passes by
W. D. Allen Sr.
How many on this newsgroup ever made paddles passes to aircraft carrier
landings? How many to straight decks and how many to angled decks? On which
carriers did you make them? How many in this newsgroup even know what
paddles passes were? Let us hear from all you really old, formerly...

Carrier readiness? by
rob
Hi
Somebody who knows nothing here :-)
I was wondering how alert a carrier is during a normal peacetime cruise
Do they constantly have early warning aircraft aloft?
If something untoward happens how long would it take to be fully battle
ready?
