Amazon Smile and the SSA - WHAT? by John DeRosa OHM Ω http://aviation.derosaweb.net
I just got a report from the Amazon Smile folks that says that to date those that have signed up for a portion of their Amazon purchases to be donated to the SSA made a total contribution of $2025.23 (no idea if that is yearly or forever). The total could have been higher but something is surely...

Amazing Winching Weekend in Utah by [email protected]
The Utah Soaring Association (USA) held a winch training camp at Nephi this last weekend with our newly purchased and rebuilt winch. We invited Karl Striedieck and his brother Walter to come and train 4 of our cfig's over the course of 2.5 days. We ended up with 4 club cfig's who are now winch...

Amazing soaring facts? by Doug Easton
Looking for some help from the group... I'm putting together a presentation (might be overhead viewgraphs and/or a series of posters) for the general public on soaring and I want to catch their interest and imagination. For instances might be: the world altitude record for a glider is close...

Amazing Milestone by [email protected]
Back in 1955 Walt Cannon learned to fly gliders at the Schweizer Soaring School in Elmira. As was common then, he soloed in a 2-22. After a time, Bernie Carris decided he was ready for a single seat glider and put him in the then new 1-26. He was the first "kid" to fly a 1-26. Recently I found out...

Amazing facts by ZASoars
Doug , It's a thought that many glider pilots have flown sailplanes the equivalent of many times around the earth during their soaring careeers ( engineless). I have a mere 3000+ hours and that includes about 85000miles cross-country ( or more than 2 times around the world). There are as you know...

Amazing 2-33A Records TN by olddogcirrus
Sarah Kelly-Arnold and Rachel Flem had an amazing flight in a lowly 2-33A on Thursday. It appears they may have set 12 new TN records and 3 national records with this flight. I think Sarah deserves more of a medal for sitting in the back seat of the 2-33 for the four hours plus.. Anyway,...

Amarillo by mornin'? by Jack
It appears that I may be transferred to Amarillo from Houston about September or October. I'm wondering about the soaring group there. I know someone in the area and he said the soaring club had ceased to exist. He also said the group was trying to get a winch going in order to reform the club....

Am I insured? by JJ Sinclair
Just checked my policy and it said a number of things about my pilot license, but nothing specifically about not breaking FAR's. It said my pilot license must not be suspended or revoked and that I must be current. This would include a biannual and those 3 takeoffs and landings within the last 90...

Aluminum top Cobra trailers leaks - how frequent? by AK
A few people told me that their Cobra trailers with aluminum tops developed leaks. I wonder how frequent this problem is. Obviously aluminum top is nice to keep it looking good, but one of the the purposes of a trailer is too keep the glider inside dry. In New England we sometimes get 4 inches of...

Alu corrosion protection by Udo Rumpf
I am refurbishing an Schreder trailer. The under side has white corrosion markings all over. I would like to know if I can apply an oil spray of sorts that would "stabilize" the oxidization and help protecting the under side over time with repeated application if necessary. If that would work what...
