What to buy...what to buy? by
Carl J. Hixon
Okay, I always love reading everyone's thoughts on these types of questions
so I'll post one for myself. Well, my wife finally gave me thumbs up to buy
a plane after taking a 6-year break from flying. Well, I'm pretty conservative and worry about losing my job, etc.
But darn it, it is about...

Gemini CH260 by
Tony
Anyone know about this little 2 place twin. I would love to try and talk
my Dad into buying a kit. It looks as if it will be the cheapest twin
ever. 2 place side by side. 2 80hp motors. 3 1/2 gph, and a total of 7
gph. Looks like it will be the cheapest what to build Multi time. Put
one of these on...

DGs and Autopilots by
Andrew Gideon
How "particular" to an AP are DGs?
We're looking to replace a DG in an aircraft that has an Cessna
Navomatic 300A (I think it is called) autopilot. In the not too distant
future, we'll be upgrading the AP (probably to an STEC unit, likely to the
STEC 20 (we already have the STEC 30 Alt...

Can you help identify this airport? by
Video Guy
Hello
My family has an aerial photograph of an airport we need help to identify.
It was taken by my late father-in-law sometime in the 1960's. At least that
's our guess. Could be a little later; and maybe even a bit earlier; we
just aren't sure.

Oshkosh 2008 Photos by
John[_9_]
Maybe I am spoiled. I keep expecting that in this modern age there
will be plenty of photos of an event like AirVenture even while it is
ongoing. The official EAA site is top heavy with photos of mechanical
bulls, past prime rock n' roll acts, and photos of the people that
make AirVenture what it...

Electrical issues question by
A Lieberman
I realize that lots of theories may exist, and trouble shooting is a crap
shoot from afar but I am wondering, what would cause a full discharge
indication when I put my landing light on.
This started shortly b4 I had my radio put in, and when I flew it back from
the avionics shop, on the short...

Reliability of O-300 by
Captain Wubba
Hello. Looking at buying another airplane (I tried cutting out the
middleman and just flushing $100 bills down the toilet, but it isn't
quite the same). I'm currently considering early-mid 60s Cessna 172s,
powered by the 145 HP Continental O-300, and would like to hear from
any owners of these...

Bendix King KMA20 - Stuck mike open. by
Roy Page
I had a "mike stuck open" problem on my 1977 Piper Archer.
The PTT switch tests out fine and seems that the KMA20 audio panel is the
culprit.
I worked all the front panel switches many times and the problem has gone
away for the moment.
The mike unstuck as I was working the Marker Hi Lo switch
I...

crazy talk - 320 into a 360 application? by
[email protected]
I'm in a position where I can't afford another (2) 360's
for my twin - someone suggested putting 320's in to "apache-ize" it
until I have more scratch...is this just crazy talk?
People Up to 360's from 320 all the time, but I never heard of
going down to them before - is it: legal, moral,...

Ammeter "woggle" by
scott moore
I was having a long standing problem on my 172N
with the ammeter "woggling", that is, rapidly
wiggling back and forth in level flight, through about
1/2 of the total scale. This was going on for a year
or more. On the last annual, the AP had me disassemble
the solenoids and brush the leads. There...

Review of Anywhere Map GPS for Weather? by
John Taylor
I'd like to buy a portable uplink weather display for single-engine
piston aircraft I fly recreationally along the east coast. I'm
impressed with VistaNav by Mercury, but it's expensive and large. I've
been looking at Garmin's 396 and 496. I see another solution is
Anywhere Map, but I've...

hurry up & pay the cover charge! :) )
From reliable sources: Jay throws a hell of a Pre-OSH party at a certain Inn

In the N40 (@ OSH) Jay has...

Maintenance and Insurance by
AceHyflyer
Hi all,
I've been interested in flying for a long time, and I'm finally hoping
to be able to get my PPL and work up from there.
At the moment I'm trying to research what kind of plane I would like to
look into owning either before or after I get my PPL. I have a few
questions for those of you...

Buying prop strike engine by
[email protected]
http://www.whiteindustries.com/
White Industries lists engines with flange runout. What does flange
runout tell about the engine?
It seems some prop strike engines have a larger flange runout reading
than others, and the larger the flange runout, the lower the price.
Why?
Thanks.
