Zink Chromate Paste by
Michael Horowitz
Duralac Zinc Chromate Paste doesn't appear in the Spruce or Wick
catalog, apparently for health reasons.
I do see it mentioned for sale by marine stores.
Has anyone using an acceptable substitute, easier to locate? - MIke

ION aircraft being built at ANE by
Montblack
I always have fun when I bop in and talk with Steve, of ION aircraft. He's
bursting with enthusiasm, ...and airplane knowledge (history AND
engineering). He walked up to me at one of our EAA Chapter meetings and
said, "Are you Montblack?"

Check out the links.

Aircraft Spruce and their comma delimited order form by
Michael Horowitz
Spruce gives the option of my providing quantity and partno. in
comma delimited format when ordering.
When ordering tubing, "2,03-02400-5" correctly translates into two 5'
lengths of 03-02400.
However, the same logic doesn't seem to translate for spar stock:
02-123-8 didn't translate into an...

CW Crane
I have a 35 A. ND alternator. There is a stud marked "B" for the battery and a
three wire plug marked "E", "F",and "N". The "F" wire I am sure is the field
but how are the other two wires used in the original automotive application?

JM-2 plans? by
Capt.Doug
I understand that the little yellow race plane on the wall at EAA's museum
was a homebuilt with plans offered. Anyone know if plans can still be
obtained? How come the design wasn't copied by other racers?

What would you call this tool? Bolt drill guide? by
Michael Horowitz
Some years ago, I watched an A&P drill a shank so it would accept a
cotter pin.
Was a metal block into which various sized bolt could be screwn into,
each with a hole perpendicular to the shaft that would guide a drill
bit.
Anyone know what this might be called? - Mike

removing old, dried, masking tape by
Michael Horowitz
Someone used masking tape many years ago to cover some screwheads on
my leading edge. Pulling it off only gives me strips of masking tape.
Any suggestions on how to remove this stuff? - Mike

I have tried both Acetone and MEK in the past and eventually was able
to get the tape off but neither worked half as well as the Goo-B-Gone.
Both can also be destructive...

Building a new "Mighty Grape" by
[email protected]
Since many aircraft owners have asked me about building our mogas fuel
truck (which we called "The Mighty Grape" because of its horrible
purple color) I thought I'd post my experiences with bringing our new
"Grape" -- a '95 Toyota T100 -- to life.
The Mighty Grape -- subject of magazine articles...

Chelton's Direct-To division belly up. by
Gig 601XL Builder
Somebody in the group was asking about Chelton the other day. This story ran
recently on AvWeb.
Direct-To Avionics has reportedly ceased operations as of late last month,
leaving potentially dozens of kitbuilders without equipment or immediate
support for experimental versions of the Chelton...

Flying Naked by
[email protected]
Not me! The aircraft. My homebuilt is two years old, never painted,
and water spots are showing that won't wash off. I think they are very
mild corrosion from desert alkali or something. Anyway, I prefer no
paint, but not fancy polish or anything. What would you guys
recommend.
thanks,
tom

Finally making headway after about twenty years from concept. Even have

less than half of Helicycle. Most likely twice as...
