Airplane sellers using a broker/dealer by [email protected]
For those who have sold an airplane before, how do the dealers charge their fees for finding a buyer ? 3%, 5%, 10%of the purchase price ? Or a fixed amount for a "listed period" ? I'm most interested in information on commission for planes in the $100,000 - $200,000 range. P S

TIS traffic audio callouts by No Spam
The TIS traffic audio (e.g., "TRAFFIC NOT AVIALABLE") has quit on my GTX 330/CNX80/MX20 airplane. It worked fine until recently and the configuration set up on the 330 or 80 may have been inadvertently changed. The data displays correctly on the MX20 and the audio tests correctly via the GTX...

Lake Insurance by Severso
What is a good rule of thumb for how much hull insurance should cost for a new seaplane pilot who buys a mid - 60's LA-4? 4% or more of hull value? Thanks! --Marshall S.

Reinstalling vacuum DG by Mike Noel
I finally pulled my Mitchell (Edo-Aire?) vacuum DG and sent it off to Bernard Ducasse for overhaul. For those following the new vs. re-new debate, I'll let the group know how the overhaul turns out. After removing the DG, I covered the exposed ends of the vacuum hoses left dangling in the plane...

OT Dr. Strangelove by [email protected]
Anyone know what the Slim Pickins quote "I'm gonna get them doors open if it harelips everybody on ear Creek!" means. I have just watched the movie (again) and have always wondered it it has any hidden significance. Regards, Jerry

You still have today (Saturday) and tomorrow to go see the Sussex, New Jersey airshow.. Flew in yesterday for the show and it was great. The volunteers did a great job and were always helpful and friendly. The airshow was pretty much non stop from about 1:00 till 5:00. The new x-team masters of...

Plastic knobs for 172? by [email protected]
I'm looking for the small white plastic knobs (cabin air, etc.) for the panel on a C-172 C model (1962). I've looked on Plane Plastics, Spruce, etc. with no luck. I know this has to be a common problem because they're all cracked and dingy looking, and I've noticed it on other planes as well. By...

The need for original documents, N-reg aircraft? by Dave Butler
Peter wrote: There are various documents such as the cert of airworthiness, and (for an N-reg in Europe) the FAA radio license, which some say need to be carried in original. Can anyone point to a reference for this? I can't find it in the 2005 FAR/AIM. In the US there is no...

single pilot ops in europe by Bernhard D Rohrer
Hi folks I was wondering about the feasability of small corporate aircraft and whether single pilot ops are a good idea for let's say a 6-seater (2+4) in Europe's skies. typical ops like dublin - stockholm or london - milano. what do ye think? I hasten to add that I am new to all this and...

What is a Doyne Apache? by JAX
I've seen some Apaches listed that are 'Doyne conversions' but I can't find what the conversion involved, except maybe 180hp engines. I know about Geronimos, but what exactly makes up a Doyne conversion Apache?

MD26-28 400Hz inverter - not very reliable by Tim Shoppa
Peter wrote: I've had two of the above fail in under 3 years. I would guess that the failures are related to adverse voltages coming in or an adverse load on the output. The electrical environment of a small plane can actually be much more abusive than a modern car, because of the wide...

Arrow add-on for FS2004 by Paul kgyy
Any recommendations on the best Piper Arrow add-on for MSFS2004? I found a couple with google but the downloads don't seem to work. Doesn't have to be freeware. Mostly what I want is a reasonably accurate power model. I have ASA's On Top but the GPS is crummy and the power model has no...

What's high TT for a Lyc 235? by Paul Folbrecht
My engine has 1200 SMOA and 4500 TT. I can find very little regarding the relevance of total time. Maybe it's close to irrelevant since a MO touches everything anyway. Lyc even zero-times their remans, of course, even they are obviously not truly 0 TT. Just curious about the subject of engine...
