ADF Problem by
tony roberts
Hi
Today I was flying north and my ADF was tuned to an NDB.
The needle pointed at 330 degrees (or 11 O'clock) until I reached the
NDB, and then it swung until it pointed behind.
I dialed up the next NDB and it pointed at 330 again until passage.
And I dialed up another NDB - same indication - all...

Autogas STC Paperwork by
Al Gilson
Our 1964 Skyhawk has a placard by the fuel cap indicating that it is
approved for unleaded auto fuel. However, I don't have any paperwork
showing that it has an STC for autofuel. Any ideas on how I could
research this information? Or...is the placard all I need?
Thanks.

IOF 240 Engine-Would it run if the batteries fail? by
Piperflyer
Liberty XL2 has the Continetal IOF 240 with FADEC. Would the engine run if
the batteries failed? It does not have a magneto. Would the ignition system
run off of the alternator? The salesman at Sun-n-fun had no clue. Does
anyone know?

AeroStar Fuel system? by
Al G[_1_]
Could someone fill me in on the Aerostar fuel system? The one in
question is a 602P.
IIRC, Ted Smith designed it as a "Leave it alone and burn all the fuel
in the airplane" type system.
But wasn't there a lawsuit over one years ago?

Fuel economy help by
G.R. Patterson III
Just saw an article by AP. It seems that Auburn University has made a breakthrough
in fuel cell research. They now have a practical way of catalytically separating
the hydrogen from the carbon and sulphur in conventional fuels such as diesel.
When used in a vehicle equipped with a fuel cell, fuel...

Cheap OX recomendations by
Guy Byars
On a trip last week, we flew for 3 hours at 10,000ft. Afterward my wife
complained of fatigue and at times during the flight she complained that she
couldn't "get enough air". I am thinking that supplemental OX for her would
be helpful. I checked the Aerox systems and the other systems, but...

Tanis Pre-heater with Engine Analyzer by
O. Sami Saydjari
Does anyone out there have experience with having installed a tanis
heater when a engine analyzer is already in place. I have a JPI Classic
Scanner (EGT/CHT) that had bayonnet-type probee for CHT. Tanis has a
kit designed for this sitation, but after we installed the kit, none of
the CHT readings...

Flying into Canada by
O. Sami Saydjari
I expect this question has been asked many times here....but here goes.
Exactly what, if anything, do I need if I want to fly into Canada?
Does the answer change if I want to land in Canada or if I am just
flying through their airspace? I expect to be on an IFR flight plan, so
I will already have...

Airtex Interior Refurbish - Day 48 by
Mike Spera
Day 48 (The Seats)
Just completed the seats. Not as tough or as time consuming as I thought
it would be. Maybe 10 hours total time. As I said in the previous
installment, I reused the rear foam. The rear seat backs rolled back on
without a hitch. Minimal adjusting to get it to look just right. I...

IFR GPS certification by
nobody
Sorry about the x-post but didn't know where to ask the question.
I guess I've been living under a rock. I wanted to update the VFR GPS in
the panel to an IFR model. I started getting quotes on recon GNC 300XLs.
The units themselves were about 2,500-3,000. I was shocked to find out that
I had...

Nashua Festival, Avidyne and WSI by
Doug Vetter
Hi all,
Went to the Nashua, NH (KASH) Aviation Festival today, which was pretty
well organized. I'm a Daniel Webster Alum so it was nice to see not
only the displays they sponsored but also all the buildings my tuition
built. :-)
The festival is largely a static display, which is nice because...

SR20 vs SR22 exhaust by
Ben Jackson
I'm not sure I'd ever seen an SR20 before today, and boy does it have
obnoxious exhausts. Are all Cirrus planes like that and I've just missed
it?

Hello all...
I keep seeing the different letter variants for C-172 airplanes (e.g.,
Cessna 172L, Cessna 172N) but I have no idea how different is which
variant from each other... Is there any website or other resource where
I can find specs for each of the Cessna 172 variants...? Any info

AnywhereWX??? by
mtmueller
After considerable research, I have pretty much written off adding weather
to my Garmin 530 right now. It looks like the GDL-49 just doesn't do what I
want, and is too susceptable to interference for efficient delivery of
detailed weather, and you have to add another damned VHF antenna (which
would...

I took the garbage out tonight by
John Clonts
You know that life is good, when your garbage bin contains 12 empty quarts
of aeroshell W100, and 6 empty MGD bottles.
Today I installed the oil "quick change" valve, then went flying for 30
minutes, then changed the oil. Oh that makes it SO much easier! No safety
wire, no "channeling" the oil...
