Checking O-360-A4A Vernatherm by
Mike Noel
I decided to check the vernatherm on my Archer's engine because it is
running on the high end of the green during summer flights. I had already
checked the sending unit and guage and found it to be OK. I then removed a
1" hex cap from the top left of the oil filter adapter on the accessory
case. ...

Carb Rebuild -- Suggestions for where to go by
zatatime
I need to get my carb rebuilt. It's a Marvel MA4-5 off an O-540.
Somehow it floods to the point of not running (longer story possibly
in another post). I'd like to find out why this is happening so that
besides just getting an overhaul I actually know it won't flood again.
I don't care if it...

Garmin 396 by
Doug
Does anyone know what I would have to do to make a 396 go from an
aviation unit to a car unit? Could I just take it out of the plane,
push a few buttons and put it in the car and get turn by turn car
navigation instructions? How does the car stuff work? Does it have all
the resturants and stuff. Or...

When Weather Diverts You. . . by
Patty
It's part of flying, and there's nothing you can do about it. . .
perhaps.
You're trying to get to your destination, or maybe you're trying to
get home. You look at the weather and no matter how you plot out your
time, direction of flight, and other options, you're staying put!
Blessing or...

FAR Reference - Self Fueling by
Ben Smith
I was just reading both the land lease, and hangar keeper agreements for the
now City owned Morey Airport. (C29), and they both state:
"The Lessee further agrees not to transport, or cause to be transported,
onto airport premises, gasoline or other flammable fluids for the purpose of
self-fueling...

They're website is quite impressive, they have a few gallaries of this
stuff being used on Biz Jets and the like, and it (seems to) work
remarkably well.
Any experiences? My "Too good to be true" alarm is going wild, but If
it performs as advertised (and as...

KX125 by
Roger
I was in the process of entering the AWOS freq and when I pulled the center
knob to select the .72 on my King KX125 the whole center knob and shaft
came out. Has anyone had this problem? What does it involve to fix it?

Remote Power On by
Robbie S.
I have been trying to figure out a cheaper alternative to having to pay $369
to purchase a Beeper Box to turn the engine heater on in my hanger from a
remote location an hour or two before I fly. Before I try and re-invent the
wheel, does anyone know of a product on the market that could do the...

Pilots "Twas the night before Christmas" by
Matt Barrow
Twas the night before Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas, and out on the ramp,
Not an airplane was stirring, not even a Champ.
The aircraft were fastened to tiedowns with care,
In hopes that come morning, they all would be there.
The fuel trucks were nestled, all snug in their spots,
With...

Merry Christmas to all by
[email protected]
Here's a joke for you that I got from another thread,
The Public Works Minister of a former French colony in Central Africa
is in
France in an official visit.
He is invited for a dinner at the private house of his French
counterpart.
When he reaches the place, he can't refrain to say:
- My...

Voltage, EDM-700, trim switch follow-up by
Jay Honeck
When I started Atlas yesterday I watched the voltage on the JPI and
the EI volt meters. It was pegged right at 14, which my A&P says is
nominal. It drops to 13.4 or 13.5 in cruise, which he also says is
fine.
So, the JPI EDM-700 is now enroute back to JP Instruments in
California. The tech I...

if anyone has recommended paint shops in the Ohio, Michigan, Indiana
area. The plane is a warbird that is mostly bare aluminum. I want to
get the insignia, stripes, and wheelwells re-done. Any recommendations

Panel lights breaker pops by
Bill
I would bet on a short to ground on the lights too.
If you keep turning the dimmer pot up to pop the breaker,
you will eventually cause the dimmer pot to fail which will
be more expensive than you would guess!!
These cirucits are notoriously poorly protected for over current
conditons.
