Garmin - Jeppesen Flitestar Connection by
gwengler
I know this has been discussed here before but I'm still not able to
connect my Garmin III Pilot to the Jeppesen FliteStar program I have
on my laptop. The problem of course is the serial-USB adapter which I
have to use since modern laptops do not have old style serial
connections anymore. If...

Any opinions on the Garmin GNS 480 ! ! ! by
RonLee
I am thinking seriously about getting the GNS480 and need opinions to
(try and) change my mind. The GNS 430 is nice but the 480 has more
features that I like. Anybody using one and making approaches? With
autopilot? with GPSS? Does GPS altitude REALLY work?

Toronot-to-Bahamas by
Anthony Acri
Planning a trip from Toronto (Canada) to Bahamas Freeport.
Is there any special forms, request that have to be made?
I know we clear customs at any POE for US. Do we do the same for the
Bahamas?
How is ATC in the Bahama's? Any special things we need to know?
Thanks

IImorrow 2001 GPS IFR Cert by
Matt Young
The flying club that I am in just purchased a second 172, a really nice
plane, new interior and paint and a nearly new STCd 180hp engine.
Anyway, it has a IImorrow (or Apollo?) 2001 NMS GPS installed. It is
not IFR certified, but pages I've found about it online seem to indicate
that it can be. ...

Garmin 96c glitch? by

Anyone out there using the Garmin 96c handheld GPS? I have discovered a
glitch that may be a significant firmware problem on the 96c (and maybe the
96). When projecting a waypoint on a bearing from between 165 to 181
degrees FROM any existing waypoint in the 96c's internal aviation datatbase

Airliner landing technique by
Matt Whiting
This isn't an IFR topic, but I figure there might be a heavy iron pilot
or two reading this. There's a thread on the FS group about landing
747/777 class airplanes. I've read that they typically kick out the
crab right before touchdown much as some lighter airplane pilots do.
Slips are out...

Types of Waypoints by

Y'All,
I've been digging through FAA-H-8261-1 Instrument Procedures Handbook and

I would like to know in what respects the following types of waypoints are
differentiated by creation, useage, and otherwise.
A source text would be helpful as well.

I too had my first experience in IMC yesterday. I got my ticket last

TYQ and then it...
