Liberals Ignore The Wright Brothers by
Andrew Gideon
Liberals HATE America wrote:
Alas, Orville and Wilbur Wright are today pigeon-holed as "dead white
males" whom we are supposed to ignore, if not deplore.
The author is sadly misinformed. I couldn't care less about "white" or
"male". However, "dead" is a Bad Thing. I certainly expend a...

IFR student by
Gerald Sylvester
I'm close to completing my PPL (9 days for my checkride) and planned
to go onto to get IFR training in a 6-7 months. The weather
in the San Francisco Bay area has been quite cloudy and rainy and
was thinking about starting my IFR training immediately in order
to take advantage of the IMC...

will this fly? by
Lee Elson
Please excuse the cross post, but the topic might be of interest to
several groups.
I'm wondering whether providing light aircraft transportation services
(people and/or cargo) and consulting to small businesses is likely to
be a successful approach to setting up a very small aviation business.

Good day all, I bought this terrific handheld radio but find I can't

that clear. Any help out there would be appreciated.

Interesting use of cell phone to command a sharp roll to the right! by
Peter Bondar
http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/33/srg_gad_gasil4of2003.pdf
Highlights the case where a KAP140 equipped plane went a bit wobbly which
was caused by a cell phone carried by a passenger.
Personally I thought it was all rubbish till now, I guess time to take a
different view.
Makes you think when you are...

FAA letter on flight into known icing by
C J Campbell
There was an earlier thread on whether it was legal to fly an airplane under
part 91 into known icing if there was no specific prohibition against it in
the airplane's operating handbook. I asked the Seattle FSDO what their take
was on the issue. This is their reply:
Dear Mr. Campbell:

I have a new "never been read" POH for the Baron 58. I purchased it to
replace one that was lost, but found the original in the meantime. I ordered
this replacement manual from www.avshop.com. It's for serial numbers TH-1
through TH-772. It's in new condition. I'll take $15 plus $4.00 shipping...

Nexrad versus on-board radar by
Wyatt Emmerich
Flying back from Atlanta to Jackson, my Echo Flight finally received its
downloaded Nexrad data. It showed me flying right in the middle of a big
blotch of red. I look outside the window. I'm in light 40 F light drizzle
with ceilings of about 6000 above a broken 2000 layer. I turn on...

No FAF on an ILS approach...? by
John Harper
I flew the San Jose (KSJC) ILS 30L approach on Sunday, and
noticed that there is no charted FAF, i.e. no Maltese Cross. I
use Jepp plates but I just looked at the NOS plate on the AOPA
site and it's the same. There's also no OM - although there is
an MM.
Seems strange - anyone have any idea why? I...
