Another '02 Cessna 172 spinner failure by
Peter R.
Preflighted today for a two-hour trip only to discover one side of the
'02 C172 spinner bent outward. The metal spinner base holding that
crucial bolt had ripped off like a piece of paper. With nothing to
counteract the spinning forces, the outside skin of the spinner opened
right up. ...

O-320 leaning by
Roger Long
You always learn something when you fly with another pilot.
I've researched the aggressive leaning procedures that keep the O-320 in our
172 N clean running and posted them for our club members. If anyone wants
to take pot shots at them, they are...

Concorde G-BOAG final landing by
David Brooks
It's a beautiful day in the Puget Sound: no clouds and 50 miles visibility.
My wife and I were on the apron at Wings Aloft by 2:10, having left work in
plenty of time for the scheduled 2:50 arrival. I was idly monitoring the
tower frequency when I realized someone was saying "Speedbird" and...

Question on medical and kidney stones by
nospam
About a year ago I passed a kidney stone. I know it passed because I
saw it, and I know it was the only stone because I've had two
ultrasounds: one on the night it passed showing just one stone, and
another several months later showing no stones. My 3rd class medical
expires in spring of...

Good News! Arrest in plane theft case by
Jamie Rogers
This is really great news! When is the last time that a
stolen plane has been successfully tracked and a suspect
arrested? Perhaps the "homeland security" drive gave the
feds an extra push to solve this case. If so, I think that
is the first (only?) positive affect on GA. Lakewood Muni
has...

2 Robinson helicopters crash at Torrance,CA by
flyer
A Robinson R44 and an R22 crashed at 3:30 Thursday afternoon. The R44
contained a flight instructor and student taking the Robinson safety
course in the 4 place. The R22 had a student making his first

new AOPA flight planner? by
aaronw
Anyone tried out the new AOPA flight planner? It looks pretty
interesting - you can import weather graphics from DUAT(S) and overlay
them on the 'sectional' that it draws the routes on. It also plots
all the TFRs and such.
Still playing with it, but it looks like it has a lot of
possibilities. ...

What really happened to Chuck Noland's plane by
Mxsmanic
After watching _Cast Away_ again, I'm still not clear on what supposedly
caused the crash of his FedEx plane. Not being a pilot, though, perhaps
I've missed clues in the film. Has anyone here been able to figure out
what went wrong? Or was it just a "Hollywood crash" suitable for the
plot but...

From NBC news on the TV tonight:

(now believed dead), a Robinson employee possibly conducting a
customer familiarization flight. The flights were operating...
