airframe basics by
Mike
I have been looking for some resources on the Internet (including AOPA's
member section) for some basics on airframe construction. In my studying
to become a pilot, I have come across references to spars, bulkheads,
and other A&P terminology that I don't have an understanding for. Can
anyone point...

airplane construction by
Mike
Hi,
I'm interested in learning more about airplane construction, say maybe a
Cessna 172. I know the basics of airframes and power plants, but what
I'm having a hard time finding is actual diagrams and depictions of the
actual assembly. For example, wing root connections, engine mounts,...

Hi,
I've been reading this newsgroup for at least a year now and appreciate
the experience and knowledge that everyone (not including trolls)
contributes.
I live in southern NJ and am thinking about scheduling an intro flight
sometime in the near future. There are two airports closeby:...

cirrus aircraft by
Mike
The Cirrus aircraft line is pretty impressive. One thing that is weird is
the side-yoke. Anybody find any problems with that? It seems that a standard
yoke would allow the pilot to have more control (i.e. control with
two-hands). Feedback would be helpful.
Thx.

Can I fly the NY VFR corridor w/o a XPNDR? by
Mike
Simple question. Can I fly the NY VFR corridor in a
transponderless aircraft that meets the exception
requirements of 91.215 (no electrical system)? It looks
like the answer is yes, provided I stay low enough (below
500' as I turn the Lady). Any new TFR or other restrictions
on this? Any good...

Trip from F70 to L00 Thoughts? by
Mike 'Flyin'8'
I am planning a short hop from F70 to L00 via KSBD at 7500. L00 is 16
miles west of Edwards AFB and just on the hairy edge of the Isabelle
MOA. However, I think I am safe since the MOA is not active on
Saturday, and it look like L00 is under a ring that is clear of the
MOA up to 1500AGL. Other...
