KX155 KX 155A Anybody know the difference? by
Mike Rapoport
The KX155 in my "new" airplane (Helio Courier) seems to have bitten the
dust. It looks like an old POS and I am trying to figure out what to do.
What are the functional differences between the KX155, KX165 and the KX155A
and KX165A? The airplane has a Garmin 300XL as #1 and a switching relay...

Can I replace a King KT76 with a KT76A in the existing tray. by
Roy Page
Our King KT76 transponder has gone down, but I have a KT76A !
A friend has advised that a KT76A is a slide in replacement for the KT76.
I doubt that he is correct, but I am sure the knowledgeably guys and gals on
this net will know the answer.
Assuming that I can't use the KT76A I would appreciate...

Doug
Kershner's "The Advanced Pilot's Flight Manual" has the following
definition for Va.

overstressing the airplane.
Now, Va is commonly taught as turbulent air...

Removing Narco Radios by
Steve - KDMW
I know to remove a Narco radio (Com 810) there is a hole and you
insert a key... kind of like opening a CD-ROM tray with it powered
off. So, my question is, if I don't have this key, what makes a good
substitute? I tried using a 2" jewelers phillips screwdriver but it
apparently wasn't long enough....

Piper Seneca II Alternator circuit problem by
George Jerome
I have a 1980 Piper Seneca II owned since 1985.
I am having a problem with the alt warning light. It is intermittent, and burns up the 6 watt 50 ohm resistor located on the enunciator panel. This was never a problem - started very recently. The service manual shows the circuit, but no details or...

NSD360A Pinouts by
Michelle P
Hi all,
I am looking for the pinouts for the NSD360A. I pulled mine and am
replacing it with a much better one. Instead of tracing the wires back
to the source units I was hoping to just transfer the wire from the old
connector the new one. I am having trouble finding the pinouts for the
360....

Jeppesen database subscription for Garmin GNS530W / GNS430W WAAS GPS by
jbskies
I just read about the GNS530W Pilot Guide. In page 3, it says:
NOTE: The GNS 500W-series units use a different database
than in the legacy units. The databases are incompatible
between units. The GNS 500W-series units must use a
WAAS enabled database.
Can anyone who has...

ELT Checks by
Kevin Chandler
I know that I am allowed to replace the ELT battery of my airplane. At the
same time, I performed an ELT check as stated in FAR 91.207. Not being an
A&P or an IA, am I allowed to perform this check and sign off on it?
Thanks in advance for any responses,

Diamond DA-40 with G-1000 pirep by
C J Campbell
I got a demo flight in a Diamond DA-40 equipped with the Garmin G-1000 glass
cockpit this morning. We departed IFR from Tacoma Narrows and flew west for
some maneuvers. This plane was the second one out of the factory with the
G-1000. I had a difficult time maintaining my altitude; the altitude...

MoGas Tips, Tricks, Concerns, How To by
Al Gilson
We have a 1964 Cessna 172E with a Continental 0-300D. It has the
AutoGas STC, but we've never used anything but 100LL. We've had some
lead deposits and a stuck valve last spring.
With the rising cost of 100LL at our airport, I'm looking at starting to
use 87 Unleaded auto gas.
Is there a...

Some good news to my old friends here at rec.aviation by

I'm not sure if there are any folks left here from "the Golden Age of

with y'all.
For those who don't know, back in 2002 members of this group were
instrumental with helping Mary and me decide to make the leap into an...

Preheating engines: Airplane engines versus auto engines by
Peter R.
This time of year here in the Northeast US I always preheat my Bonanza's
IO520 engine with a Tanis heater and an insulated cowling/prop cover as it
sits in an unheated t-hangar. The result is that the oil temperature at
startup is around 105 degrees F, even if the outside air temperature is as
low...
