Aw Rating merger and Today's ASW by Charlie Wolf
Well - in keeping with the recently posted NG charter for this joint, I offer this up: Do group members here think this is a good idea?? My days as an AW (S-3A's & B's) concentrated on sub-hunting and aviation acoustic analysis, ISAR RADR, MAD, et al. But merging the rating with mechs and metal...

Eleanor Clift anti-American military remark by Charlie Wolf
I just sent this to Fox News: Elenor Clift was just interviewed on Fox News Channel (by Laurie Due) concerning the ransom that may have been paid for the Italian journalist’s release by the Italian government. At the very end of the interview, Clift contended that a “trigger happy American...

Crash loads by Chris
Does anyone know what specification the Navy uses to define proper crash loading of structures in the cargo bay of the aircraft? I know the numbers 16G's forward, 20G's down, etc., but I'm assuming this is formally documented in a military or civilian standard. I'm not having much luck finding it.

"Whale" still "cutting-edge" by Chuck
This is not a plug for ABC's "Threat Matrix" as I've not seen the pilot program, and pre-reviews are iffy. But it sure caught my attention when I saw an A3D/A-3 Skywarrior/Whale in some promo clips of the program which will air Thursdays this fall. The promos promise "cutting-edge technology" with...

British Aviation Part 1: Better than the U.S.? by Chuck Johnson
Man o man. When I read a few British aviation mags, they always make their product out to be so superior--what's up with that?! It cannot be so! It's almost as it you *the reader* should be stunned into amazement that the friggin' thing actually ...flies! The Brits enjoy trumping up every minor...

Orion Oregon Coast by clovis
While flying out to Tillamook Head Oregon on 07/10/04 at about 12.10 PM PDT at around 1200 feet we saw an Orion about 500 yards off shore well below our altitude flying from North to South. We were above it and out to sea about 500-750 yards past where the Orion was flying so we couldn't tell much...
