Airborne DF by
ccwillwerth
Hi All,
I am fitting my homebuilt with instruments and radios, and wanted to add a
Direction Finder. I wanted a doppler type, but with small antennas in a 4
point aray with a small dimension or distance between the antennas. Am I
really far out of reason, or is this an achievable goal?

prepreg fiberglass question by
Andrew Sarangan
I've heard of prepregs which have the resin and hardener separated
within the fabric, which can be activated by applying pressure with a
squeegee or similar tool. I searched the internet but I can only find
the standard premixed prepregs which need to be kept in a refrigerator
and cured at elevated...

Looking for a tool by
Lou
A short time ago someone had posted a link to a tool that
could hold a screw so you could drill a hole for cotter pins.
I thought I had bookmarked it but just can't seem to find it.
Could anyone help?

RV-9 vs Jabiru for Aussie builder (newbie) by
Jonny[_2_]
Hi Lads,
I'd like to build my own aircraft while I learn to fly. A friend has
recently bought a secondhand Jabiru 160 (is getting a new 230c) and
has 150 hours up on a Recreational licence.
Although I would love to build a Falco or even one of these
(www.spitfireaircraftco.com), I think the...

Tank pressure for Speedaire compressor? by
Michael Horowitz
Someone gave me a Speedaire Model 3Z394 airtank.
I know nothing about its integrity or working pressure.
1. If you own such a model, could you tell me the max safe tank
pressure?
2. How can I determine if the tank (which as some rust on the outside)
still has its integrity? - Mike

Fiberglass seperation by
Lou
Ok, I've made a few pieces to try out using 1/4" foam and fiberglass on
both sides. When I cut the pieces to shape with my band saw, small
strips (1/4" or so) seem to want to seperate. Is this common or did I
mix the epoxy wrong? The big parts are staying together, the fiberglass
itself is staying...

Instrument Panel by
ccwillwerth
I am to the point that I must cut the holes in my panel. Does anyone know
of a source for full sized instrument faces in paper or something. I would
like them to place on the panel to have a full size view of the layout
before cutting. The layout could be shifted around until I find the...

Squared trailing edge of control sufraces by
Bruce A. Frank
A while back I remember seeing an article in one of the aviation
magazines about the affect of squared off trailing edges on control
surfaces of light planes. Anyone know where such an article might exist?
So far I have found several Boeing and NACA publications on wings with
blunt trailing edges,...

Pocket protecters? by
Morgans
Here's a weird one. Anyone know if pocket protectors are still available,
and if so, where? Hopefully somewhere not involving mail order.
Seems strange, that I would think about something that so many have made fun
of, but I'm sick and tired of pencils and stuff falling out of my shirt
pocket,...

Trim tab location by
Jay
I've noticed that a lot of aircraft put trim tabs on the trailing
edges of the normal movable control surfaces. Wouldn't this just
deflect the control surface to neutralize the forces and not affect
much change except drag? It seems like you'd want to put the trim tab
on the fixed part of the...

FA EBAY: Evans Volksplane VP1 ( You won't find a nicer VP1) by

There seems to be some jealousy and bitter bigots trying to bad mouth this
plane its ebay listing in addition to defaming me. This plane is priced to
sell and built professionally and has hundreds of hour flown off of it
safely. I refuse to have dialouge with any of these Keyboard Rangers...

Hello all,
These may be a bit heavy for an ultra-light, but I guess whoever has an
interest will know that better than I.
I have in my garage, two Augusta 42hp twin horizontal crankshaft and
cylinder gasoline engines in their factory crates. They were sold by
Augusta to the National Research...

Blasting and painting by
[email protected]
We had a cold front pass through Friday evening here in New England,
and the forecast was for cool abeit windy weather for Saturday, with
the cool remaining on Sunday but the wind diminishing somewhat. Great
weather for sandblasting, I thought.
Did I ever mention how much I hate sandblasting? ...
