You're invited to our Fourth Annual Pre-Oshkosh Fly-In Pool Party! This party, held every summer since we opened in 2002, is our way of saying "Thanks!" to the aviation community for another good year. We'll be serving burgers, brats, hot dogs, side dishes, pop, wine and beer, all at poolside,...

Mark Twain Said: No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the congress is in session. Ben Franklin said: They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

5 Canceled Flights in a Row by Jay Honeck
What a period of weather! We've been forced to cancel 5 scenic airplane rides in a row, over the last week, due to high winds, low ceilings, and bad visibility. Needless to say, we've had a lot of disappointed couples who were really looking forward to a romantic sunset ride over the city. ...

5 dead after crash at "fly-in" community runway by john
http://www.mysuncoast.com/Global/story.asp?S=7778243&nav=menu577_2_1 No mention of the NTSB report. My suspicion is that the "pilot" failed to gain sufficient airspeed to maintain flight. :-)

5 Flights to Make Before You Die by Jay Honeck
We've flown coast to coast, Canada to Mexico, for the last 12 years, and we have seen a lot of beautiful sights. There are way more than five flights to make before you die -- but these are my Top 5. Can you add yours? 1. Grand Canyon. Flying over the Grand Canyon is an awesome,...

5 year medical acceptance in Mexico by Robert M. Gary
My class 3 medical just went over 3 years. Even though its technically good for 5 years now I'm considering renewing it to avoid confusion in Mexico. Has anyone on this list had any experience with using a 4 year old class 3 medical in Mexico? Did they seem to be aware of the extension? I've been...

50 degrees rich of peak by lardsoup
Ok. Just want to see if I have this correct. When leaning using an EGT gauge the 172R POH says to lean untill the EGT needle peaks then enrich to 50 degrees F rich of peak EGT. So the EGT temperature will be 50 degrees less than the peak reading. Right?

500 Exhibitors at SNF? by Jay Honeck
http://www.sun-n-fun.org/content/interior.asp?section=flyin&body=exhibitors That's a pretty impressive list! (I didn't count 'em -- the "500" comes from the SNF website...) It looks to me like SNF is rivaling OSH more and more in both size and scope. I hope it never loses its more laid-back...

500 hours! by Tony Cox
Well, without noticing it, I managed to crank over the 500 hour mark yesterday. Not particularly impressive compared to many in this group for sure, but I have paid for each and every one of those hours myself. According to the ASF, I'm now in the sweet spot (between 500 and 1000 hours) where my...

6 reasons why Palo Alto airport should go by daffy
1. Small planes use leaded gasoline, which is more polluting than autos and with over 600 landings and departures per day.... that is a lot of lethal pollution. 2. There is always the eminent danger of a plane crash, one just recently occurred and fortunately the plane landed in the marsh...
