Lost Nuke May Have Been Found by
Kevin Brooks
According to CNN, the USAF and DOE are investigating the reported find of
the notorious Tybee Island Mk 15 that had been jettisoned by a B-47 after
its collision with a F-86 in 1958. A retired USAF LTC led the group that has
found what is described as a large metallic object with...

Soverignty Protection Fighter by

Can someone comment on the best aircraft for this job? My gut suggests that among the
planes a nation might be able to buy the best might be something like a Mig-21 or Q-5

Turbo prop AT-6/SNJ? by
frank may
Off & on over the years since turbo prop cropdusters (more politely,
ag-aircraft) have been being converted from radial engines to PT-6 or
Garret power, I've wondered if anyone has converted an AT-6/SNJ to a
turbo prop. Surely some well-to-do (or just eccentric) type has at
least considered it....

B-29 tail markings by

Is it OK to post an aviation-related question in this NG and not mention
B*sh or K*rry?
The Times published a review last week about a book covering the allied
crossing of the Rhine in 1945. The accompanying picture, captioned as
being US bombers over said river, showed a formation of B-29s (I...

PC problems after video of RPG shooter getting shot by
tscottme
Anyone else have their PC behave strangely after watching the video clip of
the RPG shooter being dispatched?
Both my PC and someone I sent the original link to are having problems. My
PC won't boot properly and his PC is restarting.
My antivirus didn't notice any problem.

So Who Has More Military Command Experience, Bush Or Kerry? by
W. D. Allen Sr.
Kerry had a total of four months experience commanding a patrol boat as part
of the brown water navy in Vietnam thirty years ago.
Bush has over two and a half years (and counting) experience commanding the
most lethal military force ever seen in the history of man!
So who actually has the most...

America's Hundred Thousand Production Totals by
Geoffrey Sinclair
Francis Dean in America's Hundred Thousand has a table of the 8
main WWII fighter types, by numbers produced and I am wondering
about the differences he has with the USAAF Statistical digest.
The big difference is the P-40 production June to August 1942,
Dean says 560 the Digest says 1,158. As a...

What is a Dutch roll in this context? It's usually applied to

A vehicle capable of satisfying the requirements for

F-4 w/AIM-9 and bombs carriage question by
Guy Alcala
I've been looking through Shlomo Aloni's Osprey book on
Israeli F-4 Phantom aces, and I note that around the time of
the '73 war when they want to carry AIM-9s, they either
1. don't carry any A/G stores on that pylon (when carrying
two AIM-9D/Gs on the shoulder mounts), or
2. only carry a single...

Does China have a plan? by
T3
Given the USA's dependence on space based assets for communication, control
as well as surveillance and targeting not to mention what else we are not
aware of (black ops), it would seem that the Chinese have robust projects to
deny the USA space at a time of its choosing. Recent reports indicate...
