Solomon Islands intervention force by
David Bromage
Does anybody know exactly which units are going to the Solomon Islands?
The Defence media releases haven't contained much detail, other than the
Australian infantry contingent will be from the 3rd Brigade. The
Solomons government did ask for the SAS, but I take it they're not doing.
I know HMAS...

Is replacing Maverick with JCM a good idea? by
Scott Ferrin
The Maverick's warhead is between five and 12 times the size of JCM's
and it's range is higher. That and Raytheon is talking about
extending it to nearly 40 miles with LOAL. Seems like they'd want to
keep it around.

Tornado - fast belly landing by
MichaelJP
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3292551.stm
What do you think, would the airframe be a write-off?
Would the USAF do this or just eject as the safer, although more expensive
option?

ID question: hornet or super-hornet? by
Jim Battista
Seeing a couple fly over one at a time this weekend leads me to ask:
Is there any easy way to tell a plain-old Hornet from a Super-hornet if
it's alone in the sky? I know the E/F's are bigger, but, that ain't
much help without the other one next to it.
Is this one where you just have to really...

Defensive circle by

Greetings All,
I wondered if anyone could provide some comment on the use of the
defensive circle in WWII? (Apologies if this was ever covered in detail
in the past - if so, I missed it.)
It occurs to me that the use of the defensive circle (or Lufbery) might
have been somewhat limited as it...
