Panel restoration by
Roger Halstead
I have a complete Silver Crown stack including the KNS-80 RNAV which
works well. OTOH it's beginning to look pretty ratty with age. Any
suggestions on reconditioning, redoing, or replacing the front panels
to make them look better?
I want to replace the amber plastic over the plasma displays as...

Shields for C-26 plugs by
Ed Byars
Does anybody remember the dome shaped shields that were once available for
Champion C-26 sparkplugs? I'm restoring a Culver Cadet and want to avoid the
non-original eye brow humps which are commonly used as a solution for the
tight clearance of the front top plugs.
I need two, and feel I could make...

Rolls Royce spanners by
Rik
I have several spanners stamped Rolls Royce, each with a part number,
which I believe to be aircraft spanners. They also have the WD broad
arrow mark. Can anybody identify these - could they be Merlin engine
spanners, as I would have said their age is around the 1940's. Sample
part numbers are...

Aeronautical Term by
Nyal Williams
As I recall from a model airplane kit I built back in the late 1940s,
the British observation plane, Westland Lysander, was equipped with
small, short, secondary flying surfaces (hardly wings) attached to the
landing gear just at about the top of the wheelpants. As I understood
it at the time,...

Corrosion-proofing question by
aa
I am in the process of restoring a Cessna 170. It is a major restoration
with many fuselage and wing skin pieces being replaced. How should I treat
the interior surfaces? I initially planned to paint everything with zinc
chromate. But the more I look into this, the more I worry about the
toxicity...

Kingfisher Float Value question by
certayn lee
I have a wingtip float for a WW2 vought OS2U Kingfisher floatplane.
I'd like to hear everyone's off the cuff opinion of what it should sell
for.
I want to sell it for something at least in the ball park of its value and
not essentially give it away.
Its major flaw is that a large section of the...
