David E. Powell
Henry Reed
I. NAMING OF PARTS
To-day we have naming of parts. Yesterday,
We had daily cleaning. And to-morrow morning,
We shall have what to do after firing. But to-day,
To-day we have naming of parts. Japonica
Glistens like coral in all of the neighboring gardens,
And to-day we have...

Trying to locate the NAS Miramar "Fightertown" patch, circa 1960's -

Attack Squadron 304 NAS Alameda Items by
jocko
Hi Sports Fans!
I've pretty much exhausted the web and eBay for items relating to
VA-304. I'm wondering if anyone has a VA-304 Patch that has a sideview
of an A-7 Corsair II superimposed on it?
I'm also looking for any printed material: Booklets, Programs, Plan-of-
the-Day's, etc. Anything that...

has the USS Nimitz Battle Group arrived in or near the Persian Gulf yet ? by
AirRaid[_3_]
The USS Nimitz and her Battle Group / Strike Group left California
around the beginning of April. generally it takes about a month or to
reach the Persian Gulf. So if the Nimitz group is not already there
yet, it should be shortly. within maybe, 1 more week or so, yeah?
Then the United States...

Nickname for Apache helicopter by
Jim Beaver
An online article suggests, without citation or reference, that the U.S.
Marine Corps nicknamed its Apache helicopter (through three models) as "The
Duke," presumably in honor of actor John Wayne.
I cannot find corroboration for this statement in web searches. Has anyone
here with either...

Flight Wing Size Changes? by
Charles Talleyrand
Did the change from F-14s to F-18s increase or decrease the total
number of planes per ship? Overly simple math suggests that the
amount of room needed to hold 22 F-14s could also hold 30 F-18s.
If the number of planes did not increase, what happened to the extra
space?

Retired by
Greasy Rider[_3_]
Tom was in his early 50s, retired and started a second career. However, he
just couldn't seem to get to work on time. Every day, he was five, 10, 15
minutes late. But he was a good worker and real sharp so the boss was in a
quandary about how to deal with it.
Finally, one day he called Tom into...
