What constitutes a POH? New owner needs advice. (long) by
RH
Hi everyone!
L O N G time lurker, infrequent poster here. I have a question about
what must legally be carried in the airplane for the pilot operating
handbook.
But first, let me share with you a little bit of my experience buying
an airplane...You may remember a few months ago I was looking at...

autofuel and ethanol in cincinnati area by
noname
I just moved to cincinnati and curious about the status of ethanol in
the autofuel in the area.
Is there a web site that shows what cities and/or counties that have
ethanol in their autofuel?
Are there any airports in the Cincinnati area that sells autofuel?
Thanks

Bird Control - Some Success by
Marco Leon
Back in May '06, I posted asking for some ideas around keeping birds
off various parts of the airplane. My tiedown is at the end of a line
of tiedowns that places it next to a large hangar with various small
trees and vegetation surrounding the property that is home to many
birds. While I enjoy low...

Diamond DA40 lap belt extender ... ? by
Harold
Lots of room in the shoulder harness, but need a couple of short
(2"-4") extenders for the lap belts.
The POH / Manual states that the belts are Schroth Type 5-01-1C0701,
Part No. 000918.
The shoulder belts are integrally attached to the lap belt buckle, thus
a longer extension could compromise...

non TSO AI for co-pilot legal? by
Dico
Hello,
I'm wondering if its legal to put a 2nd artificial horizon in the plane
as a backup if it is not certified? We may want to put one in the
plane as a backup... but just wanted to know if we need a certified
unit or not.
Thanks,

C-172 versus Sundowner by
[email protected]
So I've been looking to buy a C-172 and came across this Sundowner.
I've heard all the "Slowdowner" stories and did a side-by-side
from the published specs:
Cruise speed and roc: Sundowner slightly better
Payload: Sundowner slightly better
Runway required: C-172 slightly better.

Archer Air? by
Greg Copeland
Down south (Texas), is air conditioning worth consideration on something
with only 180hp? What type of HP and weight hit does it incur? Is it
worth it? I suspect it's a possible source of ongoing maintenance. Should
it be considered or avoided at all costs? Does A/C add much to the cost
of...

add weather to it somehow.

New to all this - need some advice and answers by
Rom
OK, this is going to be a rather long post since I have quite a few
question and they are all over the bloody map here. I know most of you
have gone through this sometime and while I do expect I'm not
necessarily going to hear what I want, I'll definitely hear mostly what
I need..
Bear in mind,...

Seeking KT-79 transponder install/operational info by
[email protected]
Hey all. I recently inquired about replacing my dead transponder (KT-76) with a worn out cavity. I've since bought an e-bay
special KT-79. I haven't installed it yet, but have powered it up on the bench. Things seem OK, except that the VFR button sends the
unit to code "4263" rather than...

I've been interested in flying for a long time, and I'm finally hoping

At the moment I'm trying to research what kind of plane I would like to

C-172 versus Sundowner - epilogue by
[email protected]
Well, I went and kicked the tires on the Sundowner.
It is roomy and the two doors are a lot more convienient than the
single Piper door.
But, to make a long story short, the plane had extensive and recent
damage from a landing incident; prop strike, collapsed gear, one
wing, fuselage, and tail...

Mirror Glaze by

I was talking to a fellow pilot last night about cleaning plexiglass and
he suggested using something called Mirror Glaze as a way to get out
minor scratchiing and crazing (or just for a good cleaning). Up to this
point I have only used Plexus or similar products to do our windows.
Has anyone...
