Switching Batteries Advice? by ContestID67
I would like to ask the rec.aviation.soaring community for comments about their experiences switching between batteries while in flight. It seems to be common practice to carry two batteries. There is usually a master switch and then an A/B switch to toggle between the batteries. The issue is...

Swivel On Winch Cable by John Sp
Tost's cable handling notes prohibet the use of a swivel between the cable and winch parachute They say it destroys the multistrand cable.- Swivel is only to be used for towing out. THis is counter intuitive - can anyone offer an explanation why this is so? Thanks John Spargo

SY turnpoints (Question for Brit users) by Martin Gregorie[_5_]
Question for people using BGA turnpoint files generated by TPSelect in the SY turnpoint format. Some of the BGA turnpoints have several lines of description. When I look at these TPs with a text editor I see something along the lines of "line one, line two, line three, last line", i.e. the...

Syllabus forms by Geoffrey Williams
There used to be a form on the old BGA site, that covered the syllabus and had several boxes to sign-off, "demo" , "Attemp" and "Satisf" for new pupils to work their waythrough. Have these gone, or just not to be found on the new BGA site ? Geoff

SYM Copy? by sisu1a
Hi All, I think my installation of SYM I'm using on my 310 is corrupted. My update privileges ended as of March of this year, so I can't just download a new one from Naviter. Does anyone have an archived copy of the SYM download from last March or around thereabouts? TIA, -Paul

Does anyone have a clean copy of the "allowable mass" loading placard that is found on page 14 of the flight manual? My POH is not clean enough to permit a scan and print of the placard. Thanks, Mike

SZD 48-3/59 WINGLETS by Paul Hanson
Anyone out there have an extra set of wingletted' tips for an SZD-59? How about have/know of a wrecked SZD 48-3 (Jantar Standard 3) that is equipped with winglets? Preferably the 59 tips, but if not the tips off a 48-3 will do, especially if they can be sawed off at a little over 1m from outboard...

SZD 54 Perkoz by [email protected]
I see there is an old thread on the SZD 54-2 Perkoz but there haven't been any comments since 2007. I'm hoping some of our neighbors across the pond can give us there opinion of the glider. In the US there is a real need for a glider that has the carrying capacity of a Grob103, K-21, DG500/1000, or...

SZD 55 water dump valve sticking. by Mark B[_2_]
One of the water dump valves in my 55 has become so stiff that it is virtually impossible to move. The manual has no procedure for the removal of the offending valve. Has anybody had to remove the dump valves on their 55 and if so how did you do it. Regards Mark B.

szd 55-1 by Gsoar
Hello, I would like to get opinions regarding the szd 55-1. What I have heard so far is that it tends to drop a wing when there is a bit of a crosswind on take off but, is this more common with this glider than other high performance standard class gliders? The gentleman I spoke with had 4 aborted...
