1-34 Fuselage Drain Holes by
vontresc
Our club 1-34 lives outside, and during heavy rains will accumulate some water in the fuselage. There appear to be no drain holes in the bottom of the fuselage. Is there supposed to be a drain in there?
If not is there an approved method of adding these?

1-34 Rudder by
DGRTEK
Serious question. I've spoken to several pilots regarding the handling
characteristics of the 1-34, and the general comment was that the Rudder could
have been a bit more effective.
My question is, Has anyone tried to modify the rudder to be more effective?
What would be the result of adding a...

1-35 Canopy by
[email protected]
An evil gust of wind totalled a Canopy for one of the LVVSA member's
1-35 today. Initial searches for a source for a new one didn't yield
good news. Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

1-35 or 201B by
Waduino
So you have a choice for a first glider. You're flying in northeastern US,
i.e. generally light conditions (when it's not snowing).
These 2 planes have roughly similar performance on paper and prices,
although they probably handle quite differently and I would guess the 1-35
penetrates better....

10 km's apart by
K.P. Termaat
For a distance flight using up to three turn points the Sporting Code says
at 1.4.5.b. : "The turn points must be at least 10 kilometers apart and may
be claimed once, etc."
Why "10 km", why "once". Does anybody know.

10 rolls gap tape $20 postpaid in US by
TJ
I got tired of using 3/4 inch electrical tape as
gap tape. A friend ran off some 25mm (approximately 1 inch)
tape for me.
This works well for me. It is similar to the 3/4 electrical tape,
but wider and slightly thinner.
Unfortunately, to get him to do a production run, I had to
take more than I...

100 Low Lead availability - cont. by
Bill Daniels
This is a continuation of the earlier thread about tow plane fuel.
From AVWEB February 11, 2008:
Tetra-Ethyl Lead
If I had an aircraft that required 100LL, I would read every report from
Innospec, the only manufacturer of tetra-ethyl lead (TEL). Here is a quote
from their 2007 third quarter...

1000 km flight from the winch at Greytown by
Bruce Hoult
On April 1 last year Wellington gliding club moved from their site of more than half a century at Paraparaumu to a rural site near Greytown, and at the same time swapped aerotow (Tiger Moth, then Cubs, then Pawnees) for a new Skylaunch winch. Both sites are about 25 km from the same mountain chain,...

1000k comp task by
Mel Dawson
It must be the the first 'real' completed 1000k task
in thermal only. Well done to the pilots but very well
done to the organisation, fantastic. I know of a one
well known international task setter who probebly would
have set a 4 hour assigned area task on that day !!

1000K Questions by
Brian Iten
When doing 1000K, how many turn points are you allowed
during the flight and how far away from the last turn
point do you have to be to turn at the next point?
I know, hopefully really far but is there a limit?
Thanks
Brian Iten
