12 volt 7amp/h versus10amp/h ?? by
Udo Rumpf
If a 7 amp/h battery shows 12.00 volts exactly, after 5 hours
with a 5 Watt resistor, what voltage should a 10 amp/h battery show?
Both batteries are of the same type and starting from
the same voltage with surface charge removed.

12 Volt DC input Battery Charger by
Michael I Green
My dual input ( 12 VDC & 115 VAC) battery charger died on me last
summer. Does anyone know of a replacement? I would be satisfied with
just a 12 VDC input for a 12V 7-10 Ah Powersonic Battery.

1201 & Tow Planes by
Jamie Shore
The Soaring Club of Houston and the Houston TRACON have recently
agreed to allow tow planes to squawk 1201 during towing operations.
The ATC sector manager agrees that it is a good idea and it is worth
trying for a couple of months. After the trial period, our club and
TRACON will talk to review...

1202 Transponder Squawk Code - In a Tow Plane? by
OHM Ω http://aviation.derosaweb.net
Just wondering about something.
Those of us with transponders in our gliders squawk 1202. Hurrah for our unique code. As I understand it other VFR aircraft with transponders typically squawk 1200.
I would assume that at many gliderports few of the gliders have a transponder due to the cost...

121.5 & Airliners by
Nolaminar
The only time that 121.5 is monitored is over the ocean or very remote areas.
While I can't speak for ALL Carriers, I am pretty sure that none listen in on
121.5 while over the continental US.

121.5 ELTs banned by
brian whatcott
Since satellite cover has been withdrawn for 121.5
(High false alert rate, poor localization)
406.0 and 406.1 ELTs will be needed, following a recent FCC determination.

126 Championships by

Hey Guys,
We had just concluded a fantastic 1-26 Championship in Caesar Creek, with five days of super flying, with challenging tasking that was rewarding for beginners and advanced pilots. Chuck Lohre did a fantastic job of contest reporting and the social events were great. The 1-26 is truly a...

12v - 12v charger by
5Z
I currently charge the (hard to remove) batteries in my ASH-26E with a
solar panel and charger installed on/in my trailer. During a contest,
the plane may not spend much time in the trailer during daylight hours,
but it does spend most nights in there.
The solution would be to use the solar panel...

13 meter class by
Senna Van den Bosch
I'd like to know what your opinions are on gliders with 13/13.5 meter span. I would personally be really interested in lighter/smaller gliders with good performance. What are prices on some? I found the GP 11 to be starting at € 69k without VAT.

Is there any movement or momentum to have a 13.5 meter class in the U.S. or will they be simply confined to the Sports Class for competition.

Any opinions on the FAA'S re-write of 14 CFR part 23, doing away with the "Utility", "Aerobatic" and "Commuter" categories - to be replaced with "performance-based" definitions?
